The best gift is intangible

It is indeed a difficult task to gift anything to the man who shaped my life in ways more than one.

My personal opinion is that there is no single physical item that can be called a gift when I present that to the person who is my father. Whatever my father has done for me is something so significant that the material gift will seem just plain ridiculous in front of that momentous sacrifice/hardship he took in bringing me up - to make a man out of me. Therefore, the very idea of giving and receiving gift stands challenged. When I ask him, what he wants as a gift, and almost certainly, he will say none, and I think that is from the bottom of his heart.

The best gift, however, I can give him is intangible, and which cannot be bought and sold in the market. Interestingly, this is the same gift that I always craved from him when I were a small child and he was a busy man at office. TIME.

Yes, TIME. I shall pluck out some moments from my busy schedule; spend some time with him, the man who means a lot to me. I will take him - the aging man now - for a walk, for a drive, and after a serious discussion about finance, health and stock markets, let out a heart-opening thunderous loud laughter. This will be the best thing to give to the man, who, for all his life for every single moment, after I saw the light of the world, prayed with all his heart that things do not go wrong for me.

FOOTNOTE: Invaluable does not mean useless or worthless. It means rather the opposite. The same value should be attached with intangible'things' that we give to people close to us.
