The trend of gifting is very much popular in western countries like U.S.A, U.K……….whereas in our country concept of blessing is more out of culture rather than gifting. The younger’s heart hails on auspicious occasion like Diwali, Rakshabandhan………Children find unique joy of receiving Bonus, tokens in forms of cash on Diwali day of course alongwith AASHIRWAAD.
In western countries months of Dec, Jan, Feb are well known seasons for gifting naming them to be Christmas, New year as well as Valentine.But now the giving of gifts-long established tradition is at the heart of almost every type of celebration.
My idea regarding gifting is different .To me, thoughtfully given gifts brings more pleasure to the receiver. At the same art is required to receive gifts. I categorize gifting in two ways. One way of gifting is gifts consisted of materialistic things and another above that –non-materialistic.
Gifts becomes more meaningful when person type, necessity is taken into consideration.Today’s trend goes more for materialistic gifts.Here I have described few events of my friends.to whom I have gifted very preciously.
As one of my best friend moved to another city I gifted him pen.Very common gift indeed but he really enjoys using it while reminiscing our moments of friendship while he pen downs his thoughts.
I gifted my same friend on his birthday, when again he moved back once again after 5 years to my town.On his birthday, I thoughtfully gave him the most required item which was his necessity but not on his priority list-A PRE-PAID CARD.He already had handset and with my gift his near and dear ones could easily access him.
Once on friendship day, I gifted my another friend, where we both equally share taste of creativity. Small spiral banded diary made by me with totally handmade papers. On each right side page, I artistically pasted cutouts of different handmade papers creating flowers. I also marked the lines of my own thoughts as quotes which was relevant to his life….Than diary was carefully wrapped to surprise him. He cherishes this gift till today as he found those thoughts very useful and successful on its application. Though it was simple gift but hard-work put in amidst my busy schedule, made him realize closeness for him…….
Small gifts also can become lifelong memorable gifts to person.When two friends exchange the gifts, the importance of gift is lessen as love of friend outweighs it.On friendship day at another instance, I gifted my friend pair of lipstick.She is a kind of person who cares for her looks for her professional life .She was equally happy though she has lipsticks in plenty.She understood my feelings, love and accepted very gracefully and warmly.
Well to me, when gift is not stipulated to materialistic things than it surpasses the joy of life;takes the person into blissful state.
To elaborate this I described here my real life events.
I love my younger sister & her daughter(whom I think them to be my friends)beyond the words.On her kid’s b’day who grew 2 years;I gifted her recurring account for 18 years which I wish as she grows She can fulfill her unique necessities in right manner without disturbing her parents.
I feel pleasured gifting person with surprises on any day of year as I believe each day each moment of life becomes celebration by gifting them. No day is inappropriate to express you through gifts.
Sometimes while gifting touch of wit can also be added to create unique sense of humour .Like I gifted my same sister one fine day a bodydeo but smell which really irritates her.I purposely gifted her just to see her burst red with irritation.Realising the sense with what intention she had been gifted she also uproared into rib-aching laughter which after years we both lighten our hearts remembering that day.Of course this liberty can be taken with very like-minded and close person.
Gift should be unique and novel.Gift of smile, gift of bond, gift of emotions….can be one of best gifts.Gracefully grown old lady, whose eyesight has weaken and surprisingly all of sudden when we accompany her reading Geeta, Smile glitz her wrinkled face .By the gift of smiles glow on her face which radiates with warmth is worth watching…….
Gift of BOND can become best ever gift to your lifemate.I’ve not yet got that privilege of gifting my husband; A GIFT OF OUR LOVE- CREATION that is ‘baby’ as I am yet single.But I am sure I did gift that as first gift of our love to each other.
At the moment, in my given circumstances;I am rearing my niece as I mentioned before(my younger sister and her daughter) who both are SOUL of my life.I believe the cultivation, moulding and blooming of little angel into wonderful person would be best ever received gift to my sister.Here part of my good cultivation also plays important role in niece life alongwith her mother I refer to that additional important role of my upbringing.
I equally give importance to Giftwrapping also.Gifts should be wrapped in artistic manner.And for above gift what could be best gift wrapper-a wrapper of my love, warmth and my feel than this…?
Thoughtfully gifts wrapped uniquely, creatively and given with love add zing to person’s immense pleasure.When a gift is concealed until just the right moment it creates feelings of anticipation, turning into surprise and hopefully, delight when the gift is revealed.Wrapping doesnot always have to be elaborate but if it is neat and thoughtfully put together it will make a good first impression, showing the spirit in which the gift is given.A beautifully tied ribbon or hand-decorated gift box need not take long but will always be valued by the recipient.Alternatively, you can make your own hand-decorated papers for unique wrapping, using simple various techniques….
Well gift wrapping as whole becomes individual subject which for now I postpone the description here…
Lastly to conclude according to me, at both the end, receiver as well as giver should be warm, humane by hearts…….That’s why I say its Art of gifting….!
