Guyz,

Recently my PC became verry unresponsive & the Internet Connection Speed slacked. I thought, this might be becoz of Adwares & Spywares. So I installed ”Microsoft Anti-Spyware(Beta)”. Surprisingly, the PC is workin real fast now(Of course, that is what a Anti-Spyware program does for a PC). I knew that if we have spywares on our PC, the PC becomes slow, but I dint ever think that a Spyware program slows down the PC verry verry much.

There are few other Anti-Spyware programs Im aware of.

1) Ad-Aware SE Personal

2) “HiJackThis”. **This one is specifically removing any unwanted displays on the IE browser.

So, there are many things to know abt ”Spywares”.

Check this out.

1. What is Spyware & What does it do?

Spyware is software that collects personal information from you without your knowledge or permission. The information spyware collects can range from all the Web sites you visit to sensitive information including user names and passwords. You could become vulnerable to spyware if you download music from file-sharing programs, free games from sites you don't trust, or other software programs from unknown sources.

2. How do I know if spyware has infected my computer?

A. If you experience slower Internet connection speeds, unwanted pop-up ads even when you aren't surfing the Web.

B. Changes in Web browser settings or home pages, or computer unresponsiveness, your computer may be infected. Because the typical goal of spyware is to steal information, some types of spyware may run quietly and not display any outward signs of infection.

C. Your Web browser contains additional components that you don’t remember downloading.

3. What are the actions that can help to protect your computer against spyware?

A. Downloading and installing the latest security updates.

B. Using antivirus and firewall software.

C. Installing anti-spyware protection.

D. Only downloading programs from Web sites you trust.

4. What should you do if spyware is on your computer?

Download, install, and run a spyware removal tool.

5. You can get spyware if you:

A. Download programs without carefully reading all disclosures, including the license agreement and privacy statement.

B. Download music, movies, and software from unknown Web sites or other computers.

C. Visit a Web site.
