LG, Samsung, Blue Star, Onida, Voltas comparison

I have had experience with Samsung, LG, Onida, Voltas and Blue Star AC. Here is the order of preference.

First one, LG:

It is best out of 5 that I have listed.

For three years, we are using 3 LG ACs: 2 "1 ton" and 1.5 ton, all 5 star rated. They are cheaper, sophisticated, easy to install and have less maintenance cost. for 1 AC, we had a problem where swing does not work well. And the fan is not pumping enough air. It is not a big problem. But fact is that even after multiple complaints LG is not able to fix it. Other two are working perfectly fine.

For one, we had a problem with installation as there was some water leakage, but that was corrected. And I did not have any problems later.

Second one, Samsung:

We used 1.5 ton Samsung AC for 5 years. Cooling was not great. But we never got any problems except once when we had to get gas repaired. Service is not as good as LG. And quality of service depends on the area where you live.

Third one, Voltas:

I bought voltas window AC a month back.

Advantages: Voltas as Indian brand, rugged built, more durable and reliable in long run. I must mention that I had relative whose Voltas AC lasted for 10 years. Ultimately he got it changed, not because it was not cooling. But because it looked bad, was noisy and consumed lot of electricity.

Disadvantages: It has less stars, means does not save as much electricity. Price is more than LG, Samsung etc, can't understand why. Noise is on the lines of LG.

Fourth on Blue Star:

Just know that one of my close relatives have installed 8 blue star ACs. Three out of eight new AC were not cooling because of gas problem. The complaint got fixed and they put in gas, but sounds too bad for a new AC.

Fifth on Onida: Worst out of these four. Never buy it.

Reasons:

1 - Worst possible service: The company has outsourced the maintenance to some cheap vendors. They are not trained and do not know much about ACs. We have got the gas filled twice in five years. Any time you ask for service, they take AC and it takes weeks to get it repaired.

For the last one year, it is not usable. It creates lot of noise. Latest I heard was that they forgot to put padding when they repaired once for filling gas. They had already taken it twice last year. They kept it with them for a month. And now for putting the padding they are asking to take it again. For which I have refused.

2- Also, the remote does not have all the controls and one has to climb stairs to use basic features like quick chill, from the panel of AC. I complained, and was told why do you need remote for all features.

3 - Sleep mode just goes to sleep and fails to come back.
