The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability or HIPAA as people call it in the Healthcare Industry in U.S. supports thousands of formats for processing. One of the primary formats is ANSI X12.
Not many people that want to process HIPAA Transactions might have X12 Parser, as XML is the other prominent format. People generally use some kind of translator, some write it, others buy it. There are tons of translators available in the market, I would like to recommend a software called EDIFECS SpecBuilder. This company Edifecs is creating waves in the industry.
Apart from providing inbuilt translator from X12 to XML and vice versa, the software also ships with Java API for validation purposes. all transaction have to be validated at some point of time and edifecs XEngine is the fastest I have seen. It ships with decent examples and documentation so one can deploy and start using within no time.
This company is found by an Indian gentleman and I must say he is doing a pretty good job. I am not sure how useful this review might be to people at MS but I want to make sure that the message gets out.
Later folks.
