These days it is such a difficult job choosing the right Mobile phone, with so many models and makes and functions within the models and the makes available in the market. In my personal opinion, the choice lies in the functionality that you require, for example, my use of the mobile phone is pretty much like and enhanced pager cum emergency phone, since I am more often than not sitting right next to a land line, and most of the time I am cutting my mobile expenses by noting the number of the person who has called and then reaching for the land line to talk to that person. True, 95% of my calls are from my clients, friends and family, and just about one call a week is from a relatively unknown person.
So, in my case, I do not need any advanced WAP functions and nor do I need any fancy tunes on my mobile. The first mobile I ever bought was a Seimen's S-6 model, followed by the Alcatel One Touch Easy DB phone with handsfree utility. But now my daughter wants me to buy any model of Nokia, simply because it has games she can play at home!
According to me the decisions should be based on the following needs you may want to have:-
(a) 24-hour Availability
(b) Jazzing up clients with snappy looks and tunes
(c) Ease of use (Call register-incoming, outgoing and missed calls
(d) Battery life of more than a day
(e) Availability of Handsfree facility and ease of use
(f) Cost of the hand-set & your price budget
(g) Email on the move (WAP capability) and
(h) Availability of downloadable graphics and tunes
As I said, it can become difficult when you are faced with conflicting needs or requirements.
If you ask me I would recommend the Nokia 8210 in case you need WAP capability (gives your pocket a nice swipe, but worth it if you want WAP), or the Nokia 3310 or higher series before 8210 in case you want a non-WAP enabled device.
