Well This is the first and last thing that comes into my mind, 'OUT OF THIS WORLD' Why? you may ask, I'll tell you why. Well lemme first tell you that, My PC is just of 366 MHz(Celeron) with 64 MB RAM n A SIS 8 MB VRAM. I am using Win 98 and Win Me for the past couple of years. So I know exactly how much performance I can fetch or EXTRACT out of my PC.
So one good thing I did Was that I installed LINUX as a secondary O S. That means At the time of boot up, I have the option to boot in Windows or Linux. So This does not hinder in any way with the linux applications or Programs.
So whats Linux is all about? Well it has quite a history, in short it is an Operating System, which is Coded by HACKERS. So this makes it less prone to Viruses and Hacking unlike Windows.
Then Linux Used way less system resources as windows does, so that gives you very fast comp experience. Though Linux takes up 2 GB in instalation, but then you don't need anything else. I mean Softwares like Office, Image Editor n others are all included. Its all n more than u can imagine.
You have 1001 Pros of usin Linux as a Secondry or may be as primary Operating System. Some of then are:
1) Very Fast and efficient Computer Performance.
2) No Nead to install other softwares like
Winamp, office, photoshop etc because thay all comes with
the standard instalasion.
3) You can work in 8 Terminals at the same time. Thats
gives you a virtual felling that you are using 8
computers at the same time. BUT only one of them would
be graphical n other 7 in Text mode(like DOC)
4) If you a developer(Programmer) then linux is a Heaven
for you, as it has practically every language in it.
Namely C C+ Perl etc etc.
5) As Linux is Unix based OS, So you can practice all your
SHELL SCRIPTING in linux.
6) Linux already has some very good sound applications like
Winamp n media players.
7) Linux has a option, by using it you can share/read/Edit
your WINDOW's Files in Linux. This comes handy when you
wanna listen to your mp3 collection or few your image
library.
8) Linux gives you access to all the servers like SQL
server n others. All these n others are in the Linux CD
it self. So once you've installed Linux Completly, you
don't need any thing else.
Only problem is that it does not support all type of hardware. So if you are using local made Display cards or modems or sound card, then the chances are that they will not be detected during installation. you have to install then manually.
So if you still have any doubts or problem, you can mail me or visit https://linux.org.
Till then
'May the resources be with you'
Take care n ENJOY !
