Chintamani Kola case - A FIR. Review on Chindamani Kola Case Movie

The movie starts with a case where the criminal is apparent, but still a lawyer manages to acquit him from the gallows. Sure thing, its none other than our Suresh Gopi. He is a famous Criminal lawyer who is known for getting people out from the toughest of the cases. People wonder why his does this thing, i.e. to help the convicts escape, but there is a logic to all this; “Cosmic Law” as he calls it.

His modus operandi is to acquit a criminal and then finish him/her off by himself. He is person disillusioned by the Law System. He believes, if the criminal is convicted, he can always hire a better lawyer and escape. Hence he takes it upon himself to maintain the balance. A la Anniyan. A brief flashback establishes the incidents behind his logic, where his teacher is hacked to death before his eyes and the criminals don’t get convicted.

This fact is established through two cases that Suresh Gopi involves in the beginning. There is also a Cop played by Biju Menon hot on the trail of Suresh Gopi, in search of evidence that Suresh Gopi apparently doesnot leave behind.

Now to the part of the story, the title indicates. The Chintamani kola case… A village belle Bhavana is ragged and killed in a Medical college and the convicts are nine “wild” girls, who call themselves the “Mirchi Girls”. The parents of these nine girls who are NRI’s and are very rich decide to hire Suresh Gopi to contest on behalf of there daughters and get them free.

Suresh Gopi begins his investigations and the FIR written by the police, reads like this “Bhavana comes from a very poor family, bought up by her single parent, her Dad, Thilakan. She wants to do MBBS and gets a good lank in the entrance. Unfortunately her rank is not suffecient to get her a seat in a Govt college, instead she has to take a merit seat in a Private college. The seat she takes was actually reserved for the brother of one of the “Mirchi” gang, hence the animosity. They start ragging her. She is made to stay with those girls for a night and they rag her. Unable to withstand this she decides to return home and leaves… next day she turns up at college and these girls rag her more and make her marry a corpse. They eventually kill her, hack her and drown her body”. This is what the FIR says.

Now Suresh Gopi takes up the case, and proves that the Girls did not kill Bhavana. Her dad, is totally distraught and curses Suresh Gopi. Also Biju menon figures out the connection finally!!!! And decides to give protection to the “Mirchi” gang. But the story takes a twist here, whats written in the FIR is not completely true. How Suresh Gopi actually tracks the criminals and brings them to justice, leads to the climax of the story.

And I don’t think I’ll reveal it here, just in case you wanted to see the film… Overall a decent plot, good fast paced direction and an excellent background score. Nice movie to watch....
