Two weekends back, we decided on the spur of the movement to eat out. With no particular place in mind we decided to go to Koramangala on the road facing Jyothi Nivas College in search of a good restaurant.

As we drove down the road which has become a microcosm of world cuisine, our eyes fell on Chianti Ristorante & Wine bar. Italian, always being a favorite with the kids and Chianti. Well, with the grownups, we decided to step in.

The restaurant had a friendly and relaxed ambiance. After going through the menu, we decided on an aubergine dish, a rustica pizza and a sage butter ravioli (all veg). For drinks we ordered sangria and a sangiovese besides a soda pop for the kid.

While waiting for the food to arrive, we were given complementary bruschetta and a bread basket with some herb butter. The presentation of the bruschetta reminded us of the one we had long back at Fiorano.

The ravioli arrived first. One tasting and we just had to try one more, and then one more, until it had to be snatched back by the person who ordered it.

Next came the aubergine dish and at the very first tasting, it made us sit up. The dish was an explosion of delicate flavors; mildly cheesy, the tanginess of the tomato sauce just right and the consistency of the aubergines just perfect. Even at the end of it, I felt I could have eaten more.

The pizza was an equal showstopper. With a thin crust, and the vegetables all cooked just right, it was amazingly simple yet wonderful and went beautifully with the sangria.

On the whole the food was exceptional and provided just the right flavors of Italian cuisine leaving us feeling satiated and relaxed.

At a meal for two ranging between 1500-2000, I definitely recommended for a special day out.
