A lukewarm film. Review on Chhapaak

CASTING:

The leads of the film are played by Deepika Padukone whose character name is Malti(an acid attack survivor) and Vikrant Massey whose character name is Amol who runs an NGO and is an Ex-journalist.

The character of Vikrant Massey is very uni-dimensional who actually stays in a mode of anger, frustration, and revolutionary.

The filmmakers didn't make the use of other shades of Vikrant, basically, he has been portrayed as an angry person.

The side performances of the film are very unworthy particularly of that who played the role of sheeraz Jamshed(the owner of the house where Deepika used to live in the film). Apart from these, Basheer's role has been played by Vikas and Rajesh's role has been played by Ankit(Boyfriend of Malti).

There is also an important role in the movie played by Anjanaom Kashyap who plays the role of Anjanaom Kashyap herself who is a T.V journalist.

PLOT:

The plot of the film is based on the real story of Laxmi Agarwal who is an acid attack survivor and a Television personality.

The film basically shows how RAPE is considered as a big crime and Acid attack is not taken seriously as RAPE.

Vikrant Messy approaches her(Laxmi Agarwal) and helps her out through which he ends up meeting Malti, who faces an acid attack because she didn't accept the proposal of her boyfriend, which is a very condemnable act. Her case is taken by a lawyer(a senior one) who's plan is not only to punish the criminal but also to amend the law for such incidents.

A very good part of the film is portrayed as how an acid attack survivor through his will try to live happily.

It is a very big battle and Malti, despite her financial problems, despite the social and psychological problems, how she fights the battles which actually goes on to say the mental strength that an acid attack survivor has which is very phenomenal.

Things Most people like:

1-The Direction of the film

some of the scenes definitely shine out and the film deals with a lot of sensitive things like gender representation, religious representation which has been dealt very sensitively.

2-The background song which is played throughout the movie is actually good, sung by Arijit Singh.

3-Most of the side characters are actually real-life acid attack survivors.

Things Most People Dislike:

1-It is definitely the filmmaker's weakest film which is unable to grip the audience

2-The screenplay of the film was average.

3-The performances of the actors were ok.
