Not much publicity before its release, but surely will hit the 100 crores mark looking at the openings this movie has got. Missed out on the premiere on Thursday but somehow managed to catch this flick today.
Being the festive season the movie has got sold out response and will surely do well very well at least for the 1st week as OUATIMD is destined to release next week but one more good thing for chennai express is that the movie has a jackpot day on 15th august just before the release of OUATIMD.
As per my knowledge SRK has teamed up with Rohit Shetty for the first time and it has worked to an extent. Mix of rohit shetty style of flying cars and flamboyant scenes and to go with is SRK's Rahul style has surely gelled up well.
I would rate the movie at 3 star.
A real entertainer I would say and it is expected from a rohit shetty movie and for a change SRK playing a comic role too.
I would rate the plot of the movie as 3 star.
The movie starts in a very shabby manner, but gradually picks up pace rapidly. After the death of SRK (Rahul) granddad the 40 year Rahul is set to live life on his own terms and conditions but to his short lived happiness Rahul's grand mom wishes that he put the ashes of his grand dad in Rameswaram which is in the south and his plans of going Goa gets ruined.
Rahul sets on his journey from Mumbai to Rameswaram meets accidently Deepika (meena). There comes in the DDLJ style SRK, where in SRK outstretches his hand for meena who is on a run from her father who is a don (Satyaraj). They both are captured and taken back to meena's home and the trains scenes are surely worth watching.
Meanwhile meena's dad want her to marry another guy (Niketan Dheer) from other village so that he can rule the two villages. And from here on Rahul tries to outsmart the south group in every manner and meanwhile doing rohit shetty style cars explosions etc. The climax is too very entertaining and action packed with SRK fighting many goons at a time.
I would rate the cast performance as 4 star. Considering the fact that SRK being a romantic hero is doing pretty well as a comic hero too. He has absolutely fitted in the role of a comedian cum romantic hero, and has done justice to his role here too. At times he seems a bit shaky but it's negligible.
Deepika too has acted very well and so do we expect her to as she is good at acting. Her some scenes are quite vivid and very much adorable seeing her fit in the role. The don (Satyaraj) also has played his role very well, although I prefer my all time favorite don Prakash RajĀ over Satyaraj. But even he has done pretty well I would say.
Tangabali (Nikitin Dheer) too has performed very well and his previous performance has gone unnoticed in movies like Ready and Mission Istanbul.
I would rate the soundtrack of the movie as 2 star.
I personally didn't find the songs of the movie too much impressive, and just remember one song that was good. Titli songs impressed me and I would say vishal shekhar have done a great job on this but they have failed in the rest part. One more song that was good was Tera Rasta Chhodon naa. But rest of the songs were below par. Disappointed! A let down I would say!
I would rate the cinematography of the movie as 4 star.
Great work by the team and good effects too. The beauty of south depicted in the movie excellently. I have myself visited south and its serene and divine. Great job by Dudley and his team, a well deserved applause to him and his team!! If you're a fan of Rohit Shetty and his films or SRK fan you must surely watch it as SRK has surely given some thing more or I would say something different than what he delivers.
Although the start was a bit clumsy, the train journey makes you forget about the loopholes. Waiting for OUATIMD first day first show!
Final words
Good on the comic side, and plot also isn't too draggy, missed out on music but great value on effects. One time watch guys.
