This review is intended to be a plus-point to the book. By that, I mean because there are so many books on chemistry nowadays, this review may be helpful to people wanting to buy a new book for studies.
I recieved the book; Chemistry Matters this year itself. It`s for GCE `O` Level and it`s published by the OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS. The writers are Tan Yin Toon and Chen Ling Kwong. Actually, the book itself is good. It has a total of 21 chapters which provide information and explanations to the various chemistry-related substances.
The book also contains many questions and after each chapter, is a small questionnaire from past examination-papers. Followed, are the outline answers, (if you don`t know the answers you can always check), the appendices (The Periodic Table of various elements and the Inter-Conversion of Organic Compounds) Naturally, you`ll find the glossary and the Index of the book, lastly!
However, Chemistry Matters is only a 4-Star book more because of it`s text-size (which is way-too small for quick looking), black/white pictures and mostly because the contents of the book tend to be quite outdated. (That`s unfortunately a fact, too)
It`s when I asked my cousin, a Nuclear Physicist who recommended me to another book and told me to buy it every two years and so... But, during the exams, I still find Chemistry Matters for GCE `O` Level an excellent way for revision rather than the other which is a lot more advanced but more accurate and up-to-date) This book is really good for students but I would suggest a Pure-Chemistry one rather than this for professionals in the Chemistry domain!
