That day my mood was not good and I even had a hot talk with my hubby for no perfect reason.....In the evening at 4 PM he took me and our daughter to a new place in Chandigarh. He kept it secret till we arrived near a huge garden and the the car got parked.
The entry to the park was free of cost. From here itself one can have a glimpse of the park. As it was not Saturday or Sunday, hence I feel the number of visitors were `normal`. At the start itself, I spotted roses by the both side of the concrete track. The name was written for the variety of the rose planted. My four year old daughter insisted for a photograph with the rose and she was made happy by the click.
As one proceeds, an idea of the catchment area comes in the mind. I came to know that it is spread in some 30 acres of area!!!
Our advancing was slow as the number of species of the roses are too big. Each one seemed better than others. The names of those species were too interesting like the Himalayan white, the royale, the cuttie, the porche.........
We hardly consumed some 30 minutes of exploring the garden that my daughter spotted a children`s park and insisted for playing. We allowed. The park is in a big area which even consists a Ladies and a Gent`s toilet which is toll free and hygienic. We had to virtually drag our naughty kid as she was not satisfied even with one hour of play in the park.
But soon she was also spell bound with many more variety of roses and insisted for more photographs. She even wanted to pluck one rose. But it`s a punishable offense here with Fine of Rs 500. I could even spot out dedicated manpower in uniform for the maintenance of the huge garden.
There is a light and shower show here which is particularly interesting for kids.
Looking at the visiting guests was equally interesting. They come with expensive cameras and remain deeply engaged with taking the snaps with zoom and other techniques. My hubby took many photographs and those all have come so good.
The garden consists of big grassy patches where people are seen just relaxing and enjoying `doing nothing` and unwinding themselves. At regular intervals one can find unique looking sitting places.
By the time it was 6 PM, I saw sizable number of health enthusiast engaged in walking/jogging at the concrete periphery of the garden.I do not feel any place in India may be more suitable for health walk than the Rose garden. Do visit once here to verify it.
Later I found that the Garden has one more Entry point at the opposite end. The full park is covered with a boundary wall too. The three hour visit to this place will remain a memorable place in my life as I shall be proceeding to a new place in India soon. The Rose Garden is a MUST visit place in this City Beautiful, Chandigarh.
