I am always for e-com for the fact that it offers the convenience to shop from your home/office and the option to compare prices across stores. There isn't much that I expected to go wrong with movie rental. It is simple, you place an order, they deliver the CD/DVD, and after few days they pick it back.
I liked the concept, the price(not cheap) was affordable since they promise original prints. I went ahead and ordered my first movie online. The website is simple and clean. The ordering & payment process is efficient and the DVD arrived on time.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and was thinking about my next order but that’s when the inefficiency of the service stepped in. I got a mail that a courier pick-up has been arranged for the DVD but no one turned up on the day. I thought it is possible; the courier guys may have screwed up. I wrote back and got a message that the DVD will be picked up the next day, again no one turns up. On the third day, I again get a mail that the pick-up will happen today, I wait till afternoon, no one turns up. I finally paid the postage and couriered the movie back at my expense.
It shows, the concept is good but the implementation is still not efficient.
Meanwhile, I have found a video library close to my place that rents out original DVD's for half the price:)
