I'm not writing this review to get money. This one I'd really like to get out. I want people to know to stay away from this card or at least be very careful when using it. Its my first credit card, I'm a college student. Right now all I can do is thank my parents for helping me to get out of the problems this card caused me.
First of all, they put their ads all over my college campus to entice all the young to get this card. All the ads just are a mess and only thing they do is produce more garbage. One of the first gimmicks they have for you to join is that they will give you a free 6 month subscription to a magazine. So I got entertainment weekly for 6 months. I then called them and sent them a letter 1 month before to cancel the subscription. Both of my cancellations were avoided. Next thing Ii know, they are charging me for a magazine I cancelled on a month before. They had me pay the full retail price for it. To top things off I had spent about 180 bucks. The limit was 200 dollars. They then put a 30 dollar charge for the magazines (that I didnt even want) on top of my credit bills. Which means I was now at 205 bucks. After this they added on a 25 dollar penalty immediately because I had gone over the limit by buying a magazine I didnt even want! After calling them numerous times (and even getting laughed in the face) I finally yelled enough and threated to do something about this, that they removed the magazine bill.
Another thing that bothered me is that, let's say I had gotten my credit up to 190 dollars. I got the bill and I paid it immediately. 1 week later I spent some more money and they told me they added last months bill to this months bill because they still had not recieved my check! So now a one month credit of 200 dollars had turned into a 2 month 200 dollar credit limit! I again got charged for going over my limit even though I had paid it off already for the month before.
I'm glad to write about this so that others can know not to involve themselves with this credit card. If you have kids in college they will probably get bombarded with ads for this card. Just watch what they do.
