I love a bit of trivia and I also happen to love chocolates. I have long wondered how many ladies would place receiving a nice box of chocolates for Valentine's Day, their Birthday ,their Anniversary,or for Christmas.among their fave presents. My guess is that the figures would be high !
Cadbury's,Britain's ever popular chocolate maker, have been producing nice.cool, velevety boxes of Milk Tray for yonks. I do believe they first came into production during the first world war and right up til today are exceptionally popular. Their huge sales prove that.
Well go down to your local chocolatier or supermarket and the two most common sizes of these boxed chocolates seem to be the 227 gr and the 454 gr containers. The former will cost you between Stg3 - 3.50 pounds in the High street while the huge 454 gr box will retail at between Stg 6.20 - 6.75. At chocolate shops at duty free emporiums at international airports you should get them cheaper. You will find Cadbury's chocolates are widely available in India as well.
Wrench open your Milk Tray box and you will find lovely, smooth, yummy.mooreish choccies. Cadbury's have a dozen fillings ranging from my great faves like Orange Truffle-so smooth and with a refined citrus taste- Truffle-icious - how can anyone resist- and Eastern Delight which is Cadbury's own version of Exotic Turkish Delight. Other centres in the collection include :
Strawberry Kiss-not one of my big faves
Hazelnut Heaven- I am not that partial to Hazelnuts
Caramel Heart-nice one this
Melting Moment-another thoroughly yummy choccy
Caramel Charm-ooh, I love Caramel
Fudge-tastic- Must admit I am a sucker for Fudge
Soft Whisper- cant remember much about that
Praline Parfait- a soft heavenly truffle like centre
There are undeniably a lot of good quality boxed chocolates available in the market. I find Cadbury's Milk Tray very satisifying and Erm... very, very, hard to resist.
How do they rate against their competitors such as Roses, Quality Street, Celebrations and such like ? Well I reckon very well. I will not claim they are necessarily the champion among boxed chocolates but this tried and tested product is right up there near the top of the Premier Division of Chocolates. Consequently you will not be at all surprised that I strongly recommend them ! Of course the big box costs a small fortune but there is always a downside isnt there ?
Thanks very much for reading !
