Business Standard Vs Economic Times. Review on Business Standard

The Times group publication Economic times is enjoying almost monopoly in the Business related news papers since the other paper in that field-Business Line is heavily priced at Rs 4while ET is priced at Rs2.When the Business Standard priced Rs3 entered the market,it never seemed like posing threat to ET's market space.

Personally I got accustemed to the first two pages of ET where in politics,speculations about economic decisions of government and business news were appropriately mixed into an interesting mixture.Slowly I started trying BS but found ET more interesting.It may be probably because no other publishers publish as much grape vine ,hearsay e.t.c about what is going to happen on economic front as Et does.ET seemed to have mastered the nack of making news interesting while the business news by its very nature is dry and less exciting most of the times.

Slowly my interest has turned from news of corporates,SEBI,RBI e.t.c to stock prices.It is here BS seemed to have gone miles ahead of ET.ET reports stock prices daily along with volumes,52 week low and high.

As reader of ET I had to struggle a lot and run from pillar to post to know more about stock prices.I had to buy Business Line now and then which gave more information about stocks.

But what a feat Bs has made.it started giving a whole lot of information on stocks –their book values,P/E ratio,profits earned,day high day low and what not .It had made life simpler for me.Now if I see stock prices page of ET I feel like looking to a normal news paper giving minimal information without any professional touch.Thanks to BS.I hope ET will follow the suit sooner before more readers shift from it to BS like me.
