I have been using the BSNL (Dept. of Telecom- then) land line telephone for the many many years like most of the MS members. I am also using their Internet service (Dataone) for the 3 years. I have generally found the service as very good as I have not encountered problems often. Those few problems encountered have been settled without much delay.
The recent unprecedented reduction in the landline tariff is one of the biggest reduction in telephone charges. It will definitely help those who call STD numbers of BSNL landline/BSNL mobile frequently. Now one can call and speak for two minutes a BSNL landline on STD paying one rupeeor one local call charges. If calculated it works out to be only 50 or 60 paise per minute.
However, the local call duration has been unchanged at three minutes/call. I am sure this is the lowest telephone tariff among all networks and surely one of lowest in the world. Calls to other networks from BSNL can talk for only one minute on STD. I really pity those who have surrendered their landline telephones after they were inundated with mobile phones.
BSNL has also come out with attractive tariff plans for landlines using more outgoing calls. They also have various plans including combi plans for phone and internet. There is also reduction in tariff of 20% in Broadband for employees of Govt. and Public sector.
With all these offers and packages, I have found BSNL to be a good Telecom Provider.
