Hi Guys,

Some updates on my previous review on BSNL Broadband connection. - I have managed to get a phone connection working in about a week's time after applying for the same - Better than I expected. I had to please the linemen by giving 100 bucks to them though...

BSNL authorities have promised to give me the broadband connection in another 4 days time. I'm just eagerly waiting to get that working!

Cheers :=)

I used to have a BSNL mobile connection which I disconnected about 3 months back. I am yet to get the deposit refunded, though 3 promised dates have just passed by.... My previous interaction with BSNL itself has been utterly poor.

In my previous flat, I had an Airtlel Broadband connection, with which I was more than happy. The modena dn the phone came free and at Rs.500 / month rental, I was able to get unlimited download / upload scheme. Customer service has been excellent and everything has been going on weel.

Unfortunately I had to shift my room recently and on applying for the new connection from Airtlel, I came to know that they do not have feasibility in my new area - that was a shock and terror to me.

I knew BSNL was the second and last option I had, as I had got very bad reviews on Sify, Hathway and Tata Indicom users. I knew I was kind of going into a trap by applying for BSNL, but then did I have a choice? No!

I was asked to pay a deposit sum of Rs.2900 for the new landline connection as well as broadband connection. I payed Rs.3000 (Rs. 500 X 6) to which they replied they did not have change of Rs.100. I had to roam arouns about 10 nearby shops "begging" for change. I had to return empty handed. The "madam" who was dealing me suggested me to ask he colleague sitting opposite to her for the change. I did and she said she had no change. I went and told this to the "madam", to which she replied she can't do anything.... as if to say "If you do not have change, do not apply". I tried my luck with yet another colleague of hers and this time it clicked. She took the Rs.500 note from me and went to the desk of the 1st person whom I had asked the money, took the change and gave it to me.

I got the application done and went to another office, as suggested by the "madam", about a coule of KMS away and told them that I would not be available at all times and it would be great if they could call me when they are planning to come to my house for putting the line. I have handed over my mob number to them, but I do not know whatz gonna happen. I stay alone and no one will be available to attend them in case them come in without notice.

After reading some reviews here, I have kindda got an idea what kind of tough time I'm gonna have ahead. I still love Airtel - the moment they are gonna product connection there, I'll cut BSNL, the refund for which I wil have to wait for yet another year I know. :=(

More on my experience to come later...

Cheers!
