I am from Trivandrum and have been using DataOne broadband since May 2005. This one will win hands down compared to its competitors here. Though the staff initially seemed technically challenged, I guess they are quite adept now. They maintain >230kbps consistency almost always ( I have a 256kbps connection). I am staying >2 km away from the exchange but connectivity seems unaffected, and I have 3 parallel phone lines!
My only grouse is when the rain comes clamping down, you sometimes lose the link. Though it used to take a couple of days to resolve a year back, it takes only a couple of hours now. Interestingly connectivity is always >230kbps even during monsoon rains. It is either no connectivity or >230kbps connectivity!
I had to call up their customer service only once, when they changed DNS without informing us. (In my old Windows 2000, automatic DNS configuration was not working). The guy actually tried to suggest I have a virus infected machine, but I was able to dig thru.
BTW, they have called up a couple of times and asked if everything was working ok! Unbelievable service from a public company.
I have a 1GB limit and billing is accurate and reflected separately in the monthly telephone bill.
On the whole, a very good service.
