BSNL mobile services are the best available in the country in terms of coverage, correct billing etc. But in my home state of Kerala, the other service providers are offering cheaper rates/per minute which is atleast 20-30% cheaper than BSNL. But, it is not a denying fact that only BSNL started the tariff war by offering 10ps/per minute call to any two phone(one land line and one mobile or two landlines) in the same circle. Remember, a circle is a whole state. I am still enjoying this facility which is place for the past 7 months. We also have to remember that BSNL is still a 100 per cent government company.
Only when people started using this heavily, other private service providers started offering 25 ps for same network and 50 ps for other network per minute. But, I feel BSNL should reduce the call charges from 90ps to 75 ps or even lesser if possible for the prepaid customers. Overall, with the full talk time offer and longer validity etc. I think BSNL tariff is better.
For post-paid customers, it is a bonanza time, as they are given few hundred rupees worth of free air time to any mobile.
With regard to the coverage, it is time BSNL beefed up their coverage in the towns/cities as I feel the present infrastructe is insufficient, considering the number of working connections. Overall I am sure BSNL will lead the way ahead.
