This is my 6th year in Pune & have applied thrice for BSNL BB connection at three different places at different intervals, but all in vain. Every time BSNL has raised non-feasibility issue & hence have cancelled my connection request.
First request was at Wakad.
Second request was at Kolhewadi just opposite to Central Water & Power Research Station which is a central govt office. Surprisingly the shops situated on the roadside have access to BSNL connection whereas the officials do not just care to provide connections merely even 200mt interior from the main road.
Third request was at Dhayari which is again a different ball game in itself(tussle between the local & BSNL functionaries).
It seems its just not the Govt but also BSNL which is least bothered to expand its services to the citizens of the country & our PM does big talks about Smart City & the recent drive of demonetization drive across the nation sighting n number of reasons to justify his moves.
I have used the BSNL BB when I was in Hyderabad & it was the best experience of ISP ever till date. I got the connection in just 2 days post completion of formalities which was a one day event. During usage there was downtime for sure but the recovery time to get the connectivity restored was very prompt. However few colleagues in Hyderabad used to provide -ve feedback as well but not to the extent in Pune.
No doubt BSNL offers are very customer friendly but availability of their services itself is a pain so what purpose does it serve towards "Digital India"?
This nation has multiple ISP's across every states but how affordable are their plans is also to be looked into. I have used 3G data plan of IDEA which charges 1250 for mere 10GB of unlimited data/month(excld ST), with ST the monthly bill would be close to 1500rs. I was literally taken aback with the speed of browsing post consumption of 10GB data. Speed of browsing was mere 40kbps using which a normal website itself would take for ever to load up, forget about the time to open IRCTC site in the time of need or downloading even a pdf. I felt like being robbed by these corporate houses so I chose to get rid of it & I am sure many would feel the same.
Coming to mobile data, that was also tried & was cheated by IDEA to the tune of INR4500 for no reason of mine. I am sure I am not the only one who has been cheated. No wonder why many prepaid/postpaid customers cry foul when their balance gets deducted / due to inflated postpaid bills respectively sighting dubious reasons by the CC representatives. So ultimately what it comes to at the end is to opt for a legal battle which also is another history.
To sum up the experiences it only seems that the Govt itself wants the market to be deprived of the their plans only to keep filling the pockets of the corporates through dubious means. Which in other words can be termed as a major scam in the telecom industry which no one is bothered to look into. Least said about Digital India the better it is.
