Balle Balle !!
Oh my God ! I was almost excited just to decide going for Bride and Prejudice movie as we (me and my husband) were going to theatre after really a long time. Since cable/Vcds have dominated since so many yrs. Humm, I think, ''Kuch Kuch hota hai'' at Nilayam (Pune) was the last one I watched sitting in theatre with my teenager kids.
Firstly at around 11.30am. tried over phone E square, City Pride who told you can take out ticket one hr. before time of movie or their person will give home delivery with 20/Rs.charges per ticket at 3pm.for whatever available ticket. We wanted to catch this movie anyhow i.e. Hindi version or English anything was ok for me so decided to go personally at E-square as there we had two options 4.30 Hindi version, 4.45 English. Naturally reached by 3.45pm.there and literally ran to window (separate que for ladies) for being in que which was very small. Still we got third row for 4.30 Hindi Balle Balle....as tickets were already sold out before (my bad luck). So, booking one day earlier seems quite right position. This was about ticketing. Next time for English version I will keep in mind. he he he.
I came to know that Hindi version is named as ''Balle Balle, Amritsar to LA'' ( my not so perfect movie GK, can't help) I had read and commented some reviews right here and the last one I read was of mariner2 i.e. Captain Nanduji which was right approach towards this movie and he had remarked movie being real entertainer. Accordingly, I kept my left and right brains under lock and key and went with my husband. I don't know about his thoughts as he hasn't commented after movie yet just was smiling while movie was going on. Might comment if I start discussing with him on some valid points in movie. But I don't want to argue with him on any specific point or msg. movie wanted to convey as I know he will win. Afterall, he is a lecturer and might have carried his right brain right in the theatre. I know one thing now, I am still in Balle Balle mood and no -ve review can change my mood.. Do you know, this movie made $2.2million business in London during it's first week which is second record of Gurinder Chaddha of her own.
I won't go in details as our friends on MS have already revealed bit story part and discussed on some other points too. So, I am puting outcome of my excitement only. Here we go.......
The movie starts with William Darcy, the American Hero comes to Amritsar with his friend Balraj and his sister. I found Ash quite perfect for her role and she was showing perfect emotions from time to time as proud career minded Indian girl. Then her three sisters Namrata and two others were ok at their work. Their Mom was too good as a worried mom of four teenager daughters wanting badly to marry her daughters to wealthy NRIs. Anupam Kher was perfect Dad as usual. NRI interesting character- Mr.Kohli was rightly obeying orders of director. John was ok character.
William Darcy , american millionaire owning some star hotel was appropriate for his role. Though Ash founds him very arrogant or over-confident and rejected to marry with, slowly she comes to know his love for her and acceptance of her opinions as proud Indian girl. Gurinder Chhadda has been successful in offering us real entertaining movie. Shooting in London, New York, Hollywood area, Goa, Chandigarh are made quite interesting. Dresses chosen i.e.Designer's work, use of crowd scenes and use of dandiya, use of elephants instead of cars for showing Just married couple everything I found alright. Photography is nice. Sound sufficient to shake theatre hall. Songs, music perfect to forget stress if any and make moods. And once again, overall movie? I want to watch it again for sure, may be English version.
Balle Balle !! Amritsar to LA ! Hey, it sounds like some phrase. Come on, tell me what you feel ? Dancing? Singing? watching movie?
