I am not too sure if I am in the right segement, but we have a BPL TV and today is his 25 th birthday, i dont know how to gift him thats the reason I am writing a review praising his service he rendered all these years.
Honestly I dont have the model number of the TV but it just says BPL-INDIA in the front panel, my father bought it as a gift to my mother since she delivered a beautiful boy (Its me..lol) before twenty five years, at that time colour TV was something unthinkable for middle class people, the TV did not have a remote control as well.
As I grew up they spent lot of money on me for various things but for him just 1300 rupees
100 Rupees - when we shifted from our rented house to our own house due to bad road or for some reason the TV was not showing up any picture the executive replaced the fuse (just 2 rupees) and service charge 100
1200 - We fixed a remote for him
All these days inspite of spending a lot of money and love on me it was more pain than pleasure for my parents with me, but for he entertains evry one in the family right from ramayana , streethawk days.
I have watched picture on lot of TV'S but I dont get the same satisifcation like ours (please understand I am talking about the 21 inch normal TV's and not about plasmas or LCD's), the picture is still crystall clear, few times we did had clarity problems but finally we discovered it was the cable operators fault and not his fault.
We are using Tata-sky now, the picture quality is extremely clear and could not be compared to any other TV.All our relatives who purchased Dynora, solidare (these brands are famous at that time) are done with their TV and have switched to the latest brands, but still My brother rocks (he became one in our family) so solid and never gives us an oppurtunity to buy LCD or plasma.
Taking about BPL's history those days BPL never made picture tube the picture tubes were imported from Hitachi-Japan, later on when their market boomed they stopped importing from hitachi and made their own picture tubes which intiated BPL's downfall..so the BPL TV that comes these days cannot be compared with ours.
What ever it is our TV is just working great and crossed 25 years and my parents are happy to see their grand daughter watching POGO in the TV they bought.
Once again thanks to TV and behalf of our family I thank BPL for giving us a quality product
