Race For Oscar 2010: The Fighter Competes For Best Actor And Best Actress (Supporting) Christian Bale, Amy Adams, and Melisa Leo have all been nominated for golden globes and won other awards as best actor/ actress (supporting) and ensemble cast in the pre Christmas film-an incredible feat from a turn of astonishing performances.

This made them a favourite for Oscars predictions. We already know of Bale’s extraordinary feats of effort and ability to play psychotic, emaciated characters.

Christian Bale descends to extreme depths to become Dicky Eklund, brother to Irish proboxinggear1 lightweight champion Micky Ward making him the more obvious Oscar contender for best actor nomination and win.

Mark Wahlberg bulks up and gets into the ring for the leading role, but low key turn as the Massachusetts boxer "Irish Mickey Ward helped to the top by his brother-former boxer and recovering crack addict.

Amy Adams up for best actress in a supporting role is the biggest surprise of them all. Her portrayal of gritty yet visibly vulnerable barmaid Charlene, now re-life wife of Micky Ward is at once riveting and endearing as she shouts "cocksucker" to Dicky, and further abuse from the upstairs window.
