Excellent online Ticket Booking Portal. Review on Bookmyshow

It was a delight to use this Portal to make my online Ticket bookings for Films at a variety of theatres in Mumbai and also elsewhere.

Its reliable, dependable and also safe for online transactions. Will become doubly more safer with their new upcoming more stringent features.

Best Part-You don't even have to register yourself nor bother to remember any user names and passwords. Just go straight ahead to the actual job of choosing your Movie, or Cinema Hall, City and the show timings.

One has two options to choose.

1. We can select the movie and then hunt for the cinemas where its running to make a choice.

1. Or we could select the cinema first and then choose the show time or movie of our choice.

They also offer a variety of cinemas, theatres, concerts and events across the country and the options are mind boggling.

I could navigate and use the site with ease.

After you have made the necessary selections, you are presented with the seating layout of the cinema hall with seats marked in red as sold out. You choose the available seats and then go for the payment options.

There is a running online clock that offers you limited time span (approximately 8 minutes) in which to complete your online payment transaction by credit/debit or cash card like ITZ etc..

Here, I would request them to give us users an option to extend the time limit because sometimes in our transactions we fumble and punch in wrong numbers of our cards and the CVV number for verification. Also would request them to offer a 'RESET' or 'REPLAN' buttonon the payment page.

The only drawback I observed is that if for any reason, I have gone ahead and selected my choice of seats but somewhere thereafter I lose my net connection or for some reason I close the web page, the tickets remain blocked for about 30 mins till they get released again for booking and my transaction also gets hung up till then - in the sense that even if I was to re-load the page, it would not let me book anything else til the earlier transaction or choice of seats got timed out !

Maybe its a minor technical issue but can be quite frustrating.

On your payment page, you also get to fill in yur mobile number and e-mail id for confirmation of your bookings. you can take a printout of your confirmation email or you could also show the sms received on your mobile phone to the counter staff at the cinema Box Office and collect your physical tickets personally..

But I must hand it to the guys who are running this portal that its efficient and their tele booking electronic voice prompts too are quick, to the point and very easy to follow with minimum human interaction. Although, that option also would be more than welcome and its definitely missing in the earlier stages of tele booking.

Their tele operators too were helpful and guided my with right information (unlike our 'tear your hair out' dumb and inadequately trained BPO staff at some mobile back end help lines)

I had won a WIN PIN voucherfor writing reviews on some web portal and my payment transaction had got timed out from the online booking page. Thereafter it would not accept by WIN PIN voucher codesaying that this has already been used before.

I thought there goes my hard earned money. But on speaking to their tele helpline guys, I was informed that if the voucher PIN was not consumed, the same voucher code would become usable after their 30 minute lock-in period for security reasons.

And, yes I did finally get to use the voucher and enjoy a show with my better half in luxury at a Lounge theatre in the suburbs - with tickets booked from the comfort of my my lounge at home !

Oh, and did I mention, that they are the same folks(TV18 group)who run the most watched CNBC TV18 and moneycontrol.com and Tech2.com with many more in their basket.

Today for some reason or the other their online portal is down and not accessible (just when I had to sit down and pen a few good words for them) - I presume that they must be undergoing updates.
