DIFFERENT TREE SAME WOODS - Hmmmmmmmmm had heard a lot bout this one. I'd even read all the reviews on this one. But none of them were actually the reason for me to 'go or not to go' and watch this movie. My main reason for wacthng this one was the awesome Lisa Ray whom I have been besotted with since I saw her writhing on the sands and setting fire to the desert in Nusrat 'Fatty' Ali Khan's video of Afreen-Afreen.
I even found 'Kasoor' very nice inspite of all the bad reviews it got for the sole reason that Ms. Ray was in that one too. Anyways lets stop all this philandering and come back to the topic at hand and that is ''Bollywood-Hollywood''. Due to all the ''OKAY'' reviews that it was getting from all the papers...hence they were a deterrent ,along wwith the price of tickets at Delhi' PVR cinemas , for me to go and watch this movie. Hence when one of my friends offered me the Disc of this movie I jumped at the chance.
Now first of all I didn't get the sole reason why they kept the name of the movie to what it is. Otherwise I found the movie wholesome entertainment. Now don't go looking for meaning or something different in this one coz its become kinda the latest fad in town to make ''so-called '' realistic movies on Indian families settled across the seven seas. Starting right away from Bend it like Beckham to American Desi and American Chai they all seem to be going in the same direction. ''East is East'' and ''Bend it like Beckham'' had a certain novelty factor in them but now its become kinda irritating when everyone's making the same kinda movies. Hence my advice that go with an empty mind to wacth this one.
Enjoy Lisa Ray , Rahul Khanna, his driver Rocky, Kulbhushan Karbanda, Dina Pathak etc . Everyone seems to have done a fine job in this one. Some of the finer moments of the movie are the interrogation of Rahul Khanna's girlfriend ''Kimberly'' by Moushami CHatterjee and Dina Pathak. Another very memorable moment is of course my goddess's Lisa Ray's entry into the movie. Then Rocky's song ''My heart is a pigeon coop...come in'' or more simply in hindi ''Dil Kabootarkhana hai...''. The ending was pretty much predictable. Another very nice scene was WWA wrestler Killer Khalsa's entrance into the movie when he comes to look at Lisa Ray as a prospective bride and how he talks bout his hidden muscles and her calling him a ''DYNOSAUR''. Go with an empty mind....enjoy the sing-songs give bullshit to the weird storyline and I promise u'll come out as sane as u were when u entered the hall. Worth watching at least once.
