Amazing..and thought provoking. Review on Blood Diamond Movie

Awsome.one word that I uttered when my dad asked me how this movie was.what I didnt tell him that it was thought provoking, shocking, saddening and one of those movies that made me realize, all's not well with diamonds.or how they end up in jewelery stores.

*PLOT:

*At first thought the plot is simply that a country in Africa called Sierra Leona is at war.it is rich in diamond mines and fields and as a result.hundereds of thousands of people killed and injured and the country is in a state of war as the rebels clash with the government.none of them seem to be on the average citizens' side.These diamonds are wanted by everyone.mainly by rebels so that they can sell of the stones to fund their wars.

Now the not so simple part of the story.which I still hope isn'ttrue:

To FIND those diamonds.they enter villages and leave with children and men.the women are killed.

and the children who don't look to strong and may not be able to help them have their hands cut off."the future is in the childrens hands.if there are no hands there will be no future" one rebel says.

And worse still.the children who seem capable for war are taken to camps.braianwashed and told of terrible things and their brains filled with slogans and taught how to use AK's and to.to cuss.to smoke and drink and play cards and pump bullets into women and children of their own age.they are given drugs.and these boys are around 11-12.

My first reaction was "good lord!" but this isnt the story.

The main track of the plot is this:

LeoDicaprio [DANNY ARCHER] is a smuggler of diamonds from these places to south africa where he deals with people who export these to US and england to companies thru middlemen andthey are transformed into those engagement rings we see in stores.

Djimon Honsu [SOLOMON VANDY] is a villager who hopes his son will be a doctor one day and work with the peace corps.his village is attacked by rebels and his son taken away.his wife and kids missing and he is made to work as a slave in a diamond fiels to find diamonds for his captors.he finds one.and hides it.then in a waay of fate he ends up in the same jail as Archer and somehow Archer finds out that Solomon has found the stone and hidden it .and he wants it.Its the only way to get off this god-forsaken continent" archer says.

.Solomon however wants his son and will do anything to get him back.ARcher somehow convinces him to take him to the diamond as it is the only way that he will get his son back and in reality he is only using him.

This is found out by Jennifer connelly.a journalist by the name of MAGGIE who is only looking for a good real story which isn't the normal S but something which is true and factual and she knows Archer can tell her all that so she keeps with him and solomon as she is also a good help as a journalist.who are allowed everywhere and seldom attacked.

*REVIEW:

*The movie is very good in all ways.the direction by Edward Zwick is almost perfect and im sure he didnt have a problem with the gr8 stars he had.

The cinematography is impeccable.so is the soundtrack.ranging from crude rap to native african music

The story is given above and is very nicely written

There is'nt a moment where you feel this movie has gone wrong.Zwick dwells into the mind of the people and brings out the raw, human factors of this movie.there is a lot of blasts and shooting and terrible gore and voilence.

In the end you have two people with very differnt states of mind and tied together by this diamond.a rare pink stone.

The action sequences are well shot and extremely realistic.lot of bloodshed and women and children killed.these may be disturbing to some.so be cautioned.as children are also involved

The movie is called Blood Diamond but when this movie gets over we are thinking about the state of the people and what men will do to get their hands on what they want.

.this is whre the movie focuses, NOT on the shining or beauty of the diamond.

.because I think the purpose of this movie was to explore the different psyches of people's minds.

to also make us realize about what we look at in fantasy and desire is made of blood of innocent people and greed.

CAST:

LEO DESRVES AN OSCAR! wohoo.i love this guy.first the departed and now this.

His south african accent didnt take over his expressions and depiction of a man who cares about himself more than other people "TIA: this is africa".you are a journalist.pi*s off".very good and oscar worthy.perormance by him delight to watch

Honsu.wow this guy grabs the screen whenever he is in frame.totally spectacular depiction of a man torn between what he wants and what others wants.the truth is both the things is what he needs.the diamond and his Son.but he is never capable of decieving.real great acting.very real.

Jennifer Connely is very nice a face in this cacophony of black and white men in a green and dusty land holding weapons.

Her role as a journalist is good enough to have her on screen along with the other 2 guys.she gets the good dialougues about how much truth is there in articles and ahe nicley depicts that she is not one of those hard-hearted reporters.she wants to report on the plight of the people and archer knows it all.very nicely placed in the movie with a reasonable role.good acting

I also hope that These CONFLICT diamonds are no longer in the market and cease to be.the ending words were a little convincing.

.anyway I have decide to buy my future wife a pearl ring.

VERDICT

OVERALL GREAT MOVIE very satisfying very much a delight ot watch and facts you might keep thinking about

SO GO and watch it before it leaves our cinemas.this is a movie NOT to be missed.Good Hollywood start for 2007.if you like you cinema to be meaningful and quality.
