After being dissatisfied with the delivery time and product quality of bigbasket.com, I tried grofers. This is the review about my first experience with grofers and my overall ezperience of purchasing vegetables online.
One thing that is appreciate about grofers, which I am extremely happy about, is their quick delivery within 2 hours. Another thing which makes it standout from bigbasket is minimum amount for free delivery. While bigbasket gives free delivery above Rs 1000, which is highly unlikely for small families to order and also given the poor quality of their products, grofers deliver without service change for any order above Rs 250.
Unfortunately all the good points end here. My personal reason for ordering grocery online is that I do not have time to buy them from market and my mother can't go out due to her physical weakness. Grofers packed the items in such a way that my Mom found it difficult to open it. The boxes where stuck inside their bags. Also, verifying the items is not possible during delivery as they are tightly sealed. I found bigbasket better at this. Their delivery boy removed and counted the items himself during delivery.
Most important thing while buying vegetables are their price and quality. While price-wise I would say grofer is similar to bigbasket but quality-wise bigbasket triumphs( relatively) .
I have attached the pics of vegetables from grofers. What I have realised in my experience of online vegetable purchasing is that these website sell grade B and C quality products at equal to or higher than the market price of grade A+ products and advertise as if they are selling the same grade A+ products at Grade A price.
Not at all good man! They think customers are fool and can be taken for granted.
Out of 17 items ordered, 8 items( Arbi, Cauliflower, beetroot, ginger, parwal, onion, gaur phali, lady finger) were of third grade quality. I don't know what to do with them. My mother is angry over me for wasting money. Cluster beans and green capsicum were of Grade A quality. Remaining 7 products are just mediocre.
Another thing I noticed is that there is a lot of plastic used for packing which is not at all eco friendly. These online vegetable sellers should opt for cloth bags, paper bags or some other eco friendly packaging technique. Government should restrict use of plastics to where it is unavoidable.
No provision to order from desktop is another drawback of grofers that cannot be ignored.
Please note that pictures on app are misleading.
To conclude, buying vegetable from grofers was a quick but unsatisfactory experience and I will not recommend consumers to buy perishible products online from any website atleast for now as none is able to deliver quality. But, still in case, if I get caught up in a situation where I have to order online then looking at the pros and cons of both bigbasket and grofers, I will go for big basket.
