I have been staunch user of Blackberry smart phones for more than 6 years and I have proud to say that all the devices I owned outperformed. I relished every bit of using BB. I have heard very high about Z10 & Q10 smart phones of Blackberry’s proclaimed smart devices recently.
Since I was using QWERTY for such a long time I thought to buy a Q10 that is armed with an ostentatious QWERTY key pad apart from an elegant Touch screen. I was feeling very proud after buying the device from Unitech (GIP) mall located in Noida city after nonstop recommendations by retailer (I bought a new Blackberry Q10 Smart Phone IMEI No: 356760058102624; PIN No: 2afbb3fe; Serial No: 80297505043 from BlackBerry Exclusive Showroom Electro World, 228 A, II Floor, GIP Mall, Sector-38 A, Noida, India vide Invoice Number 0365 Dated 10th July 2013 with Invoice value of INR 44500/-).
.
My ordeal started from next day when space bar key of QWERTY started malfunctioning and phone started overheating often. Also there were several other malfunctions popped up viz overheating of phone, early battery depletion etc that can be summarized as below:
1.Phone started heating randomly often.
2.Space key of QWERTY key pad started ticking while using on the right side.
3.Touch screen became unresponsive often.
4.Zoom in Zoom out started functioning uncontrolled while trying to read some document etc.
5.Text messages could not be transferred from BB Bold 9700 via Link in spite of repeated attempts.
6.Battery started discharging full within two hours while in standby mode.
I complaint about all these problem on phone to Retailer they responded rude saying that phone is new and no way this phone can give these kind of malfunctions. They also informed that his showroom has sold out almost 70 numbers of Q10 phone and they did not receive a single complaint.
After visiting several times the retailer and failed to get any positive response from them, I visited Blackberry Expert centre on Monday 15.07.2013 at C-60, 2nd Floor, Sector-2 Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India where I have been asked to deposit my new Q10 for investigation. My Service Job sheet was recorded vide **Job sheet No. 8006009874 dated 15.07.2013
* Wherein I was assured for a response within 48 hours whereas I got response after 5 days on Friday 19.07.2013. The service centre engineer informed that they have rejected DOA (date of Arrival) and that they could not do anything in this investigation because phone was activated before purchase date on 28 June 2013 whereas my purchase date was 10th July 2013.
They also informed that if I wish then they can send the phone for further investigation at Bangalore that I refused that. Report attached from Blackberry Expert center revels that the device was already opened and activated on 28th June 2013 and problems / malfunctioned raised by me were found correct.
While informing about this fact to retailer they shrugged off and said that this is not in their control and I should contact Blackberry management about this case. This is so painful and frustrating that I have decided to address this case to not only Blackberry management but also to Consumer Forum for Justice.
As I mentioned that I have been a staunch user of blackberry for more than 6 years but this incidence and my experience with disgusting performance of Q10 at all front has left me in shocking state. I am still regretting why did I buy this phone?
As an empowered consumer I have all the rights to learn the reasons of malfunctioning of phone, reasons of cheat and fraud perpetrated by retailer by selling me a pre-activated and used phone Further I wrote about this incidence to Blackberry Global support team and they said that it does not fall in their jurisdiction.
Their several emails suggested that I should write my complaint to Blackberry service provider at bbcare@hcl.com. But this was also in vain. In spite of posting several reminders I did not get any response from them. Finally I decided to bring this case to consumer forum of Government of India and they suggested writing to the service provider Redington in Chennai.
Consumer forum helpline has recorded my case vide complaint number 457463240813. They asked me to wait for an email reply from Redington the distributors of Blackberry in India. To my utmost disgust, Redington did not respond till now that forced me to send my complaint via registered post.
As per guidelines of Consumer forum, if Redington/ Blackberry still not respond within 15 days, a legal suite will be filed for refund and penalty applicable to Blackberry & all the parties involved.
When we buy a new phone, its objective is very clear that it will provide more comfort and ease to use phone without interruption for many years and not to deposit the phone on 5th day of the of its purchase at the service centre.
Through this review / message, I wish to propagate the inherent flaws of Blackberry Q10 smart phone that may come under the lens with a question whether it deserves to be called a smart Phone.
I beg pardon for becoming more harsh but the fact is this that Blackberry in hurry and in a bid to bring phone that can compete with Apple’s I phone 5 and Samsungs S4 has developed sadly a phone with numerous flaws. I enquired at Blackberry service center and on the conditions of not revealing their name they informed that one in every two Q10 phones are coming for investigations with complaints of Overheating, Key pad problems, unresponsiveness of touch Screen etc.
I was shocked to learn from Blackberry Expert Center engineer’s mouth about the inherent problems of Blackberry Q10 hardware and software. I would not comment on Blackberry’s so called Hub and swiping uniqueness that is so awkward and foolish.
If Blackberry would have done their research and homework extensively, they would have come up with an awesome Smartphone but seems in a bid to bring and compete with their peer phone they forgot the basic rules of business.
Coming to my case again, in spite of obvious report issued by the Black Berry Expert Center itself that my newly bought Q10 is flawed, Blackberry management seems reluctant to address this case.
Friends!! Via this message I earnestly request all the prospective buyers of smart phones that they should not go on the deceptive looks of Blackberry Q10 rather they must check the performance as deemed fit before paying huge some that this device does not worth.
