I had been hearing the praises for Binge for a while now and the temptation to try it was increasing with every positive review that I heard about it; either from my family or friends. I decided that on my parents anniversary, the special day ought to be made more special by ordering the cake from here.
I checked their menu and as per my mother's choice, I placed the order for a fresh fruit cake along with 3 aaloo puffs. This being my first order with them, I decided to go with 1/2 KG of cake and get an idea about their quality and with it being a tuesday, I had to order eggless(which is never my first preference).
I placed the order around 2:00 PM and was told that it will be delivered by 4:00. However, that didn't happen and after 2-3 calls, the order was eventually delivered at 6:30 but that's not a big deal as I had told them that there's no hurry and I need the cake by 7:00, before which the cake did get delivered.
Coming now to the quality. Well, it can be that I had my expectations ridiculously high but somehow the fresh fruit cake wasn't as good as I expected it to be. It definitely was fresh but in terms of taste, quality of fruits, the overall texture of the cake - I was expecting it to be "too good", considering the praises I had heard about Binge.
Maybe the eggless factor does come in here or maybe Binge is better with chocolate cakes - because the praises I've heard are not for fruit cake but for red velvet cake, chocolate cakes, puddings etc.
As for the Aaloo puff - my parents LOVED it. The filling was amazing, it was totally worth the money paid and the quality was without doubt the one that I expected to be from Binge.
I will surely consider Binge and give them another go and hopefully the cake especially will be more tastier next time, considering that my next order wont be eggless.
