My Dad suffered a stroke on the 11th April 2020 and because he was too scared he refused to go to the hospital.. his entire left side was paralyzed. I live in Bangalore and it was difficult to convince my father to go to the hospital, I, however, left Bangalore on the 13th Morning and arrived in Chennai. We first took my father to KVT hospitals however because he had a mild fever the hospital refused to admit and treat him due to the pandemic scare, they referred us to Apollo hospital and the doctors there immediately informed us that it would take about 2 lakh or more to have him just admitted there. I felt that was way too much cause no doctor had ever examined him how could they know.
Long story short someone informed us that we should take my father to Billroth hospital as it was good and close by. which we did. however, I wished I hadn’t listened to them. On admitting my father there the doctors informed us that we needed to get multiple tests, MRI has done to understand what was wrong with him. After getting the reports. they informed me that he had a blood cloth on the right side of his brain which caused the paralysis on the left side. they informed me that it wasn’t life-threatening and with medication and physiotherapy my dad would be better in two to three days. they put him in the CCU and while I felt he was getting better. he was only getting worse.
I wished I listened to my Dad when he kept telling me that he was only getting worse and that the hospital was only killing him. The doctors assured me that my dad was, in fact, getting better and that he would be discharged soon which I was relieved about. however, he stayed in the hospital for about a week. and then was discharged. he was ok till the end of April and we had to rush him back to the same Billroth only to hear doctors tell me that even if they keep giving him all the medication they could he would not survive.
My father passed away on the 3rd of May at 9:15 pm and till date, I still don’t have the slightest clue as to what caused his death. the only thing informed to me by the doctor was that he had a heart attack on the morning of 3rd May and that there were multiple complications. Skip to the later events after my father's death. The hospital kept us there till about after 1:30 am the cause of a billing issue. funny thing is it was all covered in the insurance and my insurance company had already finished taking care of the formalities. I even had the emails which they were copied on. but they just kept us there for no apparent reason. probably to get out more money from us.
The hospital has no sympathy for their patients. patients are there freezing in the cold yet they do nothing about it. My father was hungry every time I was allowed to visit during hospital hours. and they always delayed giving him his food. The staff there are horribly rude.. they don’t give a damn about the patient suffering all they care about is making as much money as they can out of these situations.. and since we are at the mercy of these heartless human beings have no other choice. I’ve had by far the most experience so far. I am not a medically trained person but in my opinion, my father would be alive today if I just had to go to another hospital.
Folks if you value your life and that of your family. please please do not by any means go to Billroth Hospital you will end up regretting it.
I have a lot more to say and think I’ve already said a lot so I’ll just end it by saying. This hospital does not value your life the only thing they care about is money and making more money. and don’t know half of what they are doing.
