I faintly remember watching Gaurav Kalra (CNN-IBN Sports Editor) interviewing the top guns of the movie along with Milkha Singh a few weeks back and Mr. Singh was talking about his struggles and how he overcame them to do whatever he wanted to and I swapped channels with minimal interest later to hear my friends comment that the movie has got great reviews and deserves to be watched.

None of my friends were ready to accompany me as all of them had busy schedules at their work and I went all alone to watch the movie. I had all the time in the world to just go and watch this flick on a Tuesday morning and got into INOX to check the movie out. I hardly knew anything having read or heard about Milkha Singh except that he was a famous Indian athlete who had a few records.

I would not get into the plot as it is already available in Wiki and I would recommend anyone reading this review to just go and watch the movie as it definitely deserves to be watched at least for getting to know more about the inspirational Milkha Singh if not for the movie's sake. Having watched this movie I was instantaneously inspired to read about Milkha Singh and got into Google to check what is this man all about and read a few things about him, including the stuff on Wiki. The impact was so much that I went to Sapna book store in Bangalore to check if I can pick the autobiography of the man.

This is the first time I have watched a biopic and have thought I should read the autobiography (The Race of My Life) from which it is sourced as it is usually the other way round. From all the things that I have read till now on the websites, Milkha is incredibly sensational. I also read that Mr. Singh has confirmed that the facts depicted in the movie are absolutely true. It is surprising how this man did what he actually did. I love rags-to-riches tales like a madman and this shall go down as one of them.

Talking about the movie, I would say it was very lengthy and could have had pieces of edition here and there. I liked the performances of Faran and Divya Dutta. I was personally touched and moved to tears to see how Milkha in the movie slaps himself because he thinks he had goofed up just a day before a critical race to eventually lose it. I loved his hunger for success, passion, sincerity to do whatever it takes to achieve the set goals, emotional connect to whatever he did - running and last but never the least to prove that he can bloody win.

Go and watch this movie though it is lengthy. I am hoping to grab my hands on the autobiography The Race of My Life.
