For every single time I said The Rock couldn’t act, I apologise. For every single time I might have criticised an Aerosmith song, I apologise. Because at the end of the day, the reason I really enjoyed the movie was because of The Rock’s character in the movie and the Aerosmith concert scene.

For those of you who have seen “Get Short”, you’ll be sorely disappointed. The only way for you to watch this movie is to disassociate it totally from the previous movie and pretend that “Get Shorty” is not a ten times better and John Travolta didn’t suddenly loose all his cool factor when he shot this movie.

Like in “Get Shorty”, Travolta plays the smooth talking ex-gangster, Chili Palmer. This time, he’s starting to tire of the movie making industry and wants to move on to other things. That was when he met small time singer Linda Moon (Christina Milian) who has the talents, the looks and the right attitude. Chili immediately decides that he’s going to help Linda make it big.

“Be Cool” is what one would call an average movie. The storyline is average. The script is average. The acting is average. But throughout the movie, there will be great scenes that simply make you wish the rest of the movie was just as great. Watching “Be Cool” is like playing a yo-yo. The excitement and interest factor goes up and down, up and down, up and down… well, you get my drift.

Some of the ups, as I have mentioned, is The Rock as Elliot Wilhelm, a gay actor wannabe. In fact, when his character was first introduced on screen, I didn’t even recognise it as him! He contributed a major part of the movie’s laugh factor. Then you have the Aerosmith concert, which was just WOW. I know now why they say Aerosmith is one of the greatest bands in US history. Although I still think that Steve Tyler looks scary, his voice, teamed with Christine Milian’s powerful vocal, was mind blowing.

So, apart from the numerous cameos from the likes of Limp Bizcuit, Seth Green and Black Eyed Peas – this movie, though still okay, won’t be as memorable as “Get Shorty”. Too many characters to keep track of. Too many things happening at once. I say just watch it for The Rock and amazing the vocal demonstration of Christina Milian and Steve Tyler.
