That's right. That's what I relate Bangalore to, a lot of serenity. Staying in a place like Mumbai, Bangalore would be my ideal pit stop from all the madness of Mumbai.
I came to Bangalore almost 4 years ago when a friend of mine decided to move from Mumbai to Bangalore. We drove down which was a scary experience. Women drivers!!! Anyway, that's another story all together. ;) Well, we finally reached Bangalore at about 12 am after the long drive which nearly killed us twice. None the less we reached in one piece and stayed at the place called 'The Club'. A few friends of mine came to meet us and it was a nice night to end the whole ordeal.
Although I haven't really explored Bangalore and the sites, I must say the climate is excellent. You feel like you're in a advanced city with less pollution and away from all that global warming catastrophe. I love the small mini bungalows which are only 2 floors high usually which have the landlord staying below. Nice apartments to rent out for really cheap compared to Mumbai. The people are generally quite nice over there, the locals give you a funny looks if you look anything out of the ordinary, which I do considering what I've done to my hair in the past one year! Hehehe.
I think the only things I despise about Bangalore are the call centers that have opened up. It's been a massive explosion there for technical projects like AOL and DELL opening up in large scales. The whole idea of 'foreigners' back in India isn't something I really like. They really know how to throw their weight around. Also, the way women are treated in Bangalore isn't very gentlemanly like. I've seen quite a few incidents of locals teasing girls who are on the roads a little after it's dark. I suppose its differs from everywhere you go, stuff like that happens in Mumbai as well but not as much over there.
I've met some really interesting people who listen to some good old rock as well. Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Metallica have all become a part of my daily listening since I've been influenced by that kind of music even as a child. Bangalore rekindled that music I was looking for so long. My parents were complete jazz fans thus the liking for this kind of music. I love places like Purple Haze, nice music and yummy beer burp.
Yes, the sudden love for that city is pouring out at the moment. All I can think of are the memories I had 2 days ago while I was there and thought I should share it here. I shall be soon be moving to Bangalore to do a course in Wildlife Preservation and Biology and I can tell you my fingers are itching to call up an airline and book my tickets again.
