The recent killing of a Professor working inside Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore is a very sad thing indeed.
My memory goes back one year back I had gone to Bangalore to attend a Grahapravesham of one of my relative. At that time, since my train Lal Bagh express reached Bangalore at 11.30 PM. I tried to contact a few of my relatives phone number but all of them slept. I had no other option but to stay in Bangalore Railway Station Portico. I TRIED to keep my materials in Clock room but COULD NOT and stay in the visitors room but both were closed due to the fear of anti social elements ransacking the visitors. I had no other options but to stay on the ground/portico of the the Bangalore Railway station on the floor. I did not have sufficient money to go to some good hotel.
What happened at the portico Bangalore city railway station was something different. There were some ten robbers trying to rob my baggages and they were trying to loot my suitcases/baggages. For nearly three hours I had to rotate with my hand bags and suitcase and fight with some ten robbers(MGR CINEMA STYLE) and the policemen were just watching me as though I was conducting some film shooting and were asking for some bribes to clear the anti social elements. (the robbers) It seems the entire railway station and the railway tracks are getting cleared through the robbers(anti social elements). This anti social elements robbing at the midnight may be happening all days even now. When the law and order situation is like this definitely I very well knew that some attacks likely all over Bangalore.
Why policemen could not take any action on the robbers means, the robbers were having some railway tickets original either taken from the passengers or taken from the floor left by the travelling pubic and the robbers were showing those tickets and were indicating that they were tourists and holding tickets. Hence, Bangalore policemen were unable to take action on those robbers.
Ultimately, policemen knew that I did not have much money and sent back all the robbers at the Bangalore Railway station portico.
Hence, the killing of the Professor inside Indian Institute of Science did not surprise me at all.
Bangalore people and the police are soft. Hence, the miscreants are bound to be rough and tough with people.
The Bangalore Policemen can learn a few lessons from the Chennai Policemen. I have to say with 100% certainty that the Chennai Police have done a lots of good work towards peace and welfare of the people all over Tamilnadu. The hard work of Chennai police has paid rich dividends. What is more gratifying is that the present Police commissioner in Chennai is giving away back the owner's money/jewels etc to the ultimate owners.
