The era of 125cc has finally arrived. Yamaha, bajaj, tvs, lml you name it they are all in. More or less everyone has similar features give or take a few. Many a reviews I read are all praise of the wind. frankly speaking even wind is not a complete bike.
With the battle field now heating up with the advent of newer models like tvs victor glx125, lml prima 125 ,yamaha fazer. Its difficult making a right choice .every bike has its own pros & cons.
Lets talk about Wind. I just purchased a wind 2 months back. I had narrowed down on 4 bikes hh ambi, bj wind, yam libero, tvs fiero f2, pulsar dtsi, hh passion+ ambi was good bike it had a nice long well cushioned seat & thats it.
The engine well its a scaled down model of cbz. Producing 11bhp of power. Fuel efficiency was low(as told by my friend who has an ambi), no tacho meter, no clear head lamp and no test ride the reason, no test ride for old bikes. So ambi was kicked out of the list. The attitude of the people at prakash was very bad. It seems that hh has got a lot of air about it self. Also the flairing is also taken from the dated cbz.
Next on the list was Passion
Only yellow color was available for ready delivery or a red colored with disk brakes which costed around 52k. Not a good bargain so dropped passion also it has a 93 92 some cc engine and produces 7 or 7.4 bhp of power. The brakes are not that powerful, head light though halogen is highly diffused and just not up to the mark. Seat too hard, switches of baba azam zamana, ya good looking white dial and cheap graphics.
Then next day went to bajaj showroom vip chembur. The people at vip are thorough professionals. They take their business very seriously. All the queries about the product were given satisfactory answer and properly explained. So took a test drive of pulsar dtsi 150 & wind at first drive pulsar was a clear winner. The big bike feel, self starter. The halogen head lamps and most of all the price of the package.
It was pulsar at first ride then on wind well it felt lighter than puls and the engine felt more refined than the the dtsi, could not make a desion. So went back the next day took another test drive but still couldnt make a decision. After a few days again went for a test drive and the people at vip obliged, still I couldn't make a desion wheather to go for dtsi or wind. So took a break of bajaj and headed to check out the new fiero f2
Went to nummer eins tvs near dukes factory govandi , met mr sanjay tandon there. It seems he is a very busy person had to wait for 15 to 20 min just to meet this fellow. The bike for the test drive was not available some one had taken it to bhivandi. So left the show room
Went to arjan motors yamaha dealer he is just apposite to tvs dealer tool libero for a spin. A good bike the best gear shift smooth and crisp, good acceleration, good paint work but the switches were not up to expectation, also it has a 107 cc engine but a good refined one. Minimal vibrations. It does not have a halogen lamp.
Also price is high. Spares ka pata nahi. And didn't see many libero on roads so I opted out other wise a very good bike.
After 2 days went back to tvs took test ride of f2 frankly speaking I didn't like the fx model the engine is also not that powerful as many people claimit to be I just didnt like its first ride I really liked pulsar dtsi in comparision. So went back to vip again took a test ride paid Rs100 and booked pulsar 150 dtsi went home asked a few people about the bike every body told me that it was a good choice but still some where I just wasn't feeling sure about my choice also there are more than 150 reviews on pulsar and there were only 8 on wind.
I went back and changed the booking I booked wind the ash black colored one. My heart wanted pulsar dtsi and my brain kept telling me go for wind. Firstly for the kilage its kilage was sone 5 to 9 kms more for a litre of fuel. Nestly it was 10000 rs cheaper also the maintainance was low also it was better looking than pulsar.
Sadly when I went to make the the dp the disk brake wind was discontinued and had to settle for a drum brake version.
About the bike the bike has a 124.6 cc engine which is smooth and refined. The power delivery is smooth. The gear shift feel is positive and smooth one of the reasons I didn't go for pulsar I liked its 1 down 4up shifts pattern also the seat is long quite broad and well foamed also the head lights are good and the dials well you will just love them when the lights are on its multi colored.
The avg I get is around 46 48 give or take a few, its still run in period though I use speed 93 and the engine oil is power 1. The engine is pretty smooth but when it reaches 60 its starts giving som viberations still havent taken it over 60yet. The gripa on wind are dreadful they can start giving cramps. Fitted 30 rs ka grips now its ok the handle bar is wide good rear mirrors, liked its click fit tank lid great riding position though cant be ridden continiously for more than 3 hrs. suspensions are far superior to many on roads bikes. Nice graphics give a feelof dueltone color scheme, and lots of features
Right now I am feeling sleepy will right a thorough comparision af all the available 125ives later will write all the pro & cons as well in a very systamatic manner. Will take test ride of fazer & lmlprima (if I find lml ka showroom that is) tomorrow.
