I was looking for a bike, which will give me power and economy. I had few options in my mind - Bajaj Discover, Honda shine, Super splendor, TVS Apache and Suzuki Zeus.
My friend, who is a very good mechanic works on moped to Benz (he owns imported one) and BMW told me to forget TVS vehicles, I did so. He said, many of the TVS bikes makes trouble and not all reliable particularly Victor.
Though, I have been using Hero Honda from 1991 for many years, I felt to have a change and left it.
Honda Shine, on test driving, I didn't find comfortable and nothing special on it. They (Honda) have kept the Gear ratio with engine different to show more pick up in the beginning, but effectively no difference in the top gear while engine and transmission become 1:1 ratio. So, I left it.
Finally, there were only 2 bikes left. Discover and Zeus. To me both performed same and put me in confusion. My friend also satisfied with both.
Suzuki is not with TVS, so we can hope it will show better in future. Since it is just launched I didn't want to experiment with it. So left it and finally purchased Discover.
Readers! may please note that Suzuki Zeus is not from TVS group
He suggested me to go for Discover since it worth for the cost - Alloy wheels & self starter. Both vehicles costs almost same. Fitting alloy wheels and self starter will cost me more, if I choose Zeus.
Discover has got another advantage that it is technologically advanced. It has got TWIN spark plugs to ensure best firing and DTSi technology. Carburetor is also advanced in Discover while Zeus uses OLD system. Though, discover comes with Big drum brakes it is good enough.
