Rex Theater Bangalore... Clumsy, yet a very stylish Bangalore crowd, gathered around to watch another Con Movie... or so would one presume, with a name like"Badmaash Company"... But, actually this could be termed as a full-on entertainer.

Not as comfortable as one might anticipate, but nonetheless, we got some airy seats, and weren't sweating, so were not complaining much.

Plot - Set in the Backdrop's of the 90's Bombay, its about 4 friends Karan, Chandu, Zing and Bulbul, who set out to make a fortune, by investing in a con-business of stealing from excise duty, customs etc. Following the motto of Bulbul's grandfather, Big Idea, Bigger Business, they start off with a bang. As their business flourishes, Karan starts sinking into the world of Glitz, Glamor and Glory. In the process, the value of friends, family and morals go down the drain for him. Will this dreamy world of his, stay like this forever? When & How would the realization of Right & Wrong, strike? Badmaash Company... has the answers...

Performances -Shahid Kapoor, definitely is the star of the movie here. Never too dramatic, and yet packed with immense intensity, his performance stands out. Vir Das, man this guy is amazing! Remember, how in Rang De Basanti, you could laugh @ even the most serious of scenes by sharman joshi? Well, this guy here, could do just that, effortlessly. MeiyangChang (from indian idol) as (Ten)Zing, was good. Anushka Sharma as Bulbul was okay.

Analysis - Just before the climax, the movie dips for a real bummer. Other than that, a little lesser, but sensibly placed comic punches, keep you entertained. Overall, everyone would have at least something to enjoy in this one.

Songs, especially Jingle Jingle and Aiyashi, were good, and wouldn't make you dream of Fast Forwarding 'em. Nicely picturized, and well placed in the movie.

Some scenes worth mentioning - The scene where Bulbul is introduced to the trio.

  • The scenes where they plan their first business deal.

  • Chandu and Zing's fight.

  • The scene where Karan asks Chandu to take care of Zing.

  • The scene where Karans dad, Anupam Kher, receives the award for 25 years of service.

  • The scenes towards the Climax.

Debutant director, Parmeet Sethi, has a promising time ahead of him. He played all his cards right, the characterization, the story, the unfolding of the plot, all were aces, and he deserves an applause.

Recommended, for a family outing, or a friends get-together. You wouldn't be disappointed.
