A fast paced thriller with style and not only style but style with substance made by a no-nonsense film-maker hit theater this friday, here's a review of it, movie is "BABY" directed by "Neeraj Pandey", who has given us movies like "A Wednesday" & "Special 26", and is directing "MS Dhoni"(as per wikipedia).
Baby is a story of a secret Intelligence group of India who fights terrorism on global scale through covert operations, all over the world, led by Feroze(Danny Denzongpa). Their one and simple rule, if any secret agent get caught, they disown him, and hence they're very successful in their many missions. Their team leader is Ajay(Akshay Kumar), who led a mission, and the movie covers the story behind that mission. Watch the movie to know more.
A round of applause for the director Neeraj Pandey, who has made a name in bollywood by making good movies, and this is only his 3rd, I try not to miss movies of some great film-makers like him, Dibakar Banerjee or Rajkumar Hirani, because they're different film-makers. Though I will still count'Baby' as weakest of 3 NP's films but its still a good file, not to miss. It is a fast-paced action thriller dedicated to Indian Intelligence officers, and supported with a fast-paced ambitious story of containing the world threat of terrorism, it follows the path set by "D Day", and score on the top of scale of "Ek Tha Tiger"(which is the low point in comparison of this movie). The next best thing I like about the movie is the characterization, who says that only an art movie can have the well-etched characters, and the fast-paced action thrillers dont have that much time available, watch this movie, I loved all the characters, be it the no-nonsense hero Ajay(Akshay), or his fellow hulk agent(Rana Daggubati), or the strong lady agent Priya(Tapasee Pannu), who single handedly handle the bad character Wasim(Sushant Singh), or the quirky yet smarter electrician-cum-agent Shukla(Anupam Kher) or the cold-blooded-eyes villain Bilal(Kay Kay Menon) or the Indian team helper in Saudi Ashfaq(Mikaal Zulfiqar), or the ultimate villian, who looks as authentic in character as it could be, Maulana Mohammed Rahman(Rasheed Naz).
All the actors has done their part well enough, applause for them as well, 2 Pakistani actors are included in the film(Mikaal & Rasheed), 1 is good, 1 is bad, and they looked authentic actors for their roles, this is one more best thing of the movie, plus the locales looks authentic as well, and too good a work for photography director, the various locations covered very beautifully, and is a treat to eyes, like a mahal-type-big hotel-cum-resort in the middle of desert looks awesome. Some scenes are worth mentioning, like the entry of the main villain Maulana, and his preaching to his followers, the fight scene between Priya and Wasim, where she being a lady how single-handedly handle him, by kicking and beating him in-and-out. Then some scenes including Anupam Kher was awesome, he's Np's favorite and shines in all his 3 films, and how, he did wonders as the no-nonsense Electrician/Hacker agent who talks only to the point, some hilarious scenes including other actor Murli Sharma(who played the role of PA of ext affairs minister). One more thing I liked to mention is about Kay Kay Menon, he's such a brilliant actor, and he pulls off the role of one of the bad characters in such a way that one more time I'm amazed, he plays good role, he plays it best, and he plays bad role, he plays it best, he was having cold-blooded eyes in the whole movie, and he looks dangerous, awesome!
2nd half was better than the 1st one, has more masala in it, movie goes on for around 2.5 hrs and not a bit boring, but yes to some, it looks only an action thriller, so anyone who is more into Shahrukh Khan's romantic kinda movies or into dumb Sajid Khan's kinda comedies, you should definitely avoid this movie. And I would call this one is the weakest movie from Neeraj Pandey, though I will still recommend the movie with a 4/5 rating, because its a plain simple thriller, unlike the other 2 movies from him, but definitely not a movie to miss, its climax was good, and if a movie's climax is good, it will be remembered for a long time. So guys, watch it and fight with terrorism, as best as you can!
