"August Rush" is a very moving story of determination, fate, and maternal love. I saw this movie at its screening last year, and I wasn't disappointed. I was deeply impressed with its powerful storyline, and cast. Freddie Highmore ("Charlie and the Chocolate Factory")

Who portrays Evan/August Rush does a splendid job when delivering a moving role as an 11year old-orphaned boy with an unusual ingenious and spontaneous musical gift whose very young life is driven by fate. While I believe this story tends to a bit unbelievable, it’s the heart of the matter that counts here, love, and determination wins the hearts of “August Rush” audiences.

Academy award wining Director Kirsten Sheridan presents a vivid portrait of an orphaned boy who travels to New York in search of his parents portrayed by Keri Russell and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. In this story a young boy  encounters the most oddest circumstances of fate. First he encounters an unscrupulous self serving musician (Robin Williams), then an inner-city church that uncovers his prodigy of music, a gift that leads him to the prestigious Juliarts School of music, and a chance at conducting an orchestra of chamber music.

Robin William’s brings on a little taste of “Oliver Twist” in his role as a fiendish musician who exploits talented runaway kids that are musically inclined by housing them in an abandoned theater in exchange for their performances, and financial gains on the streets of New York City.

“August Rush” is an unusually good movie with a peculiar rendition of Charles Dicken’s “Oliver Twist.” Lead actor Freddie Highmore is adorable in his lead role as August Rush outfitting a moving and heartwarming role along with Robin Williams whom plays a frightfully serious role. “August Rush” is definitely worth a look-see.
