Arsenal or the Gunners are a North London club with a tremendous heritage and history. They are based at Highbury, one of the most prettiest pitches in England, with a said capacity of 38,500. It is also one of the smallest pitches in the country, and the fans are almost on the pitch itself, which adds to the atmosphere of the place.
Arsenal are managed by Arsene Wenger, who hails from Straousborg in France and has managed Monaco in the past. He is a studious, intelligent and very very shrewd manager, with an eye for picking up class youth talent.
The Arsenal Football Club has had a tradition of good old fashioned backs-to-the-wall kind of football, meaning more often than not winning 1-0..! This has caused them to be also called Boring Boring Arsenal.
However, that(boring) they are definately not, now atleast!!
In attack they are simply irresistible, when on song, and often can just defend, defend and defend, and then as quick as a flash can get a goal on the counterattack.
They attack in sweeping motions and not just one person making a solo run.
With players of the calibre of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Robert Pires, Patrick Virira and Freddie Ljunberg, any defence can be unlocked. In defence they have the ''Rash'' that is Martin Keown and the 'The Rock' Sol Campbell.
Kolo Toure, a new and upcoming player has been filling in as centre back this season and has been doing quite well, with his speed making up for his inexperiance in the positional sense.
Patrick Vieira has been called the best midfielder in the world in the recent few seasons, as he does a valuable and unselfish holding and pulling-the-strings role from midfield.
Arsenal also have in their ranks exciting young players like Jermaine Pennant, Moritz Volz, Phillipe Senderos and Jeremie Aliadiere.
All in all, a little song to liven it up..
--Walking along, singing a song,
--dreaming in a Bergkamp wonderland
(Sung to the tune of winter wonderland)
