Originality:

Yuvan's new album Arinthum Ariyaamalum was released on April 10th by Mass Audios. The director of the movie is Vishnu Vardhan . He worked with Yuvan before for Kurumbu. Both, movie and the album, went back to pavilion without any trace. They join again for this movie. This album has five tracks totally. One dance number, two melodies, one techno/hiphop number, and one kid song. The first song is penned by Snehan and the rest are done by Pa.Vijay.

  1. yela yela yela- Ranjith, Sujatha Ranjith has sung a few bit songs for Yuvan in KK and this time he joins with Sujatha for a dance number. Yuvan has used disco beat in the pallavi and gone back to indian folk instruments (like in Manmadhan song) in the interludes, ok orchestration. The yela yela yela chorus is good especially the solo one coming in the second interlude. Overall the tune is enjoyable. 3.5/5

  2. konjam konjam - Mahima kammat & Chorus A new singer to the tfm I guess. The song is based on spanish music and he has attempted this genre a couple of times before. Mahima starts yodling and sounds like Britney spears in the beginning. After the first couple of lines, she has sung it as a chorus-like song. Watch for chirping flute pieces in the first interlude, I liked it. Also the base line in charanams are good. 'ye nenje' chorus coming after the pallavi stops the flow of the song. 3.5/5

  3. en kannodu - Yuvan, Nithish Gopalan A short song with just one charanam sung by Yuvan. He needs to improve his pronunciation especially he sings thol tholagiren instead of thool thoollaagiren. Somehow this song reminded me of Sting's Desert Rose. The pop beats, tune and the chorus make this enjoyable. 4/5

  4. thee pidikka - Anushka, Premgi In Kurumbu, Yuvan attempted a remix of aasai nooru vagai song from Aduththa Varisu. Only months earlier Pepsi's Ilamai Itho Itho ad was coming on the air. It was very good and I was expecting something similar to that line. But they retained the original vocal part of Malaysia Vasudevan and added only dance beats to it. That attempt fell flat and I am sure the original version still rocks even after years. This time they have tried something different. Well, you have an item number in the movie, can you apply something similar to remix kind of thing to come up with a catchy song? This song begins with a piece from an old scratched LP of a 50s song, within seconds the techno beats taking over it. The beats are catchy and carry the needed tempo for an item number. At the end of pallavi and in the second interlude, MKT-style singing is coming and that too in the same style of old recordings, they are catchy. The lyrics will make you uncomfortable in some places, that could have been avoided. 4/5

  5. sil sil - Sathyan, Cinmayi & Chorus A chorus song kids singing in a rainy day. The electronica sounds in the second interlude are good. OK song. 3/5

From the first few listenings, I would say an OK album from Yuvan. This is their second attempt. Although this album is better than their previous attempt, I feel that there is something missing. May be a few more listenings needed? Don't know yet.
