Sheldon, the author of many gripping stories, has offered his readers yet another fantastic book titled ?Are you afraid of the dark?? this year. He seems to have a fixation on women being the central characters and the ?heroes? of his books.
In AYAOTD (abbreviated it for my convenience!), he has two dynamic heroines ? Diane Stevens and Kelly Harris, a painter and a supermodel respectively.
This book is a complete thriller which could easily be adapted into a Hollywood/Bollywood flick. Trust me; it will do wonders at the box office!
The story has a strong plot, a good characterisation (a Sheldon trademark) and a very interesting link between them. It is interesting how the two heroines meet in their common emotionally traumatic times. The book keeps the reader thinking - ?What?s going to happen in the next chapter?? Oh my God, I can?t sleep before reading it now?.
I won?t like to reveal the plot much because I?m afraid that ?might? ruin your chances of enjoying the book as much as I did. But then, something has to be given out. The first four chapters of the book narrate the account of 4 mysterious deaths in different parts of the world. The detectives and the relatives of the 4 deceased people are bewildered by the deaths.
All of the deaths are perceived as ?accidents? or ?suicides?. But the immediate relatives are just not ready to believe that. Now, widows of two of the dead men are our heroines Diane Stevens and Kelly Harris who find themselves being targeted by unknown people. From here the tension rises and your grip on the book tightens. The two scared, distraught and heart-broken women are thrown together & they begin their quest on finding out the murderers!
