Of Course since I started out on this exciting journey, I have seen the beautiful enlightening systemized and creative side of learning in Indian Design institutes for an academic.
Yet I have also seen in ARCH COLLEGE OF DESIGN AND BUSINESS AS A PERMANENT FACULTY FOR A YEAR:
-An Institute which felt threatened by the truth. If an art or design school cannot even stand on the foundation of truth, how can there ever be purity in expression?
-An organization that talks of being a temple but constantly silences your voice, rather than encourages it to grow.
-An Organization where I was called a "barking dog" "who's bags will be packed up" - for being critical and expressing myself among the dead energy that was a constant, otherwise.
-An organization where I was told speaking out against sexual harassment makes no woman courageous, but 'dangerous' - and that sexual harassment is a result of suggestive dressing and where I was even teased that I might accuse "innocent" men around me thus, by the woman head - because the concept of a woman honestly being harassed does not exist for any organization, it is a secret only an individual woman can want to fight.
-An organization where I was told I dress hideously 80% of the time.
-An organization where no matter how many good things you do for every student or staff, they only picked on the one bad mistake I made out of malice - and highlighted that, misrepresenting a teacher and complaining against them out of bias for wanting teachers they shared a personal connection with. Where students are incapable of understanding what is good for them, yet judge teachers negatively for their experimental approaches of teaching, resisting exploration completely, trying to make it look unprofessional of a facilitator and hence never being capable of growing either professionally or creatively.
-An institute where I was taught that the length of your clothes matter, but not the depth of your morals.
-An organization where undignified language is spoken unreasonably or reasonably by the head at the drop of a pin.
-An organization where there is a total of 6 academic full time staff which plays a game of marbles to decide who at 22 becomes HOD of the department, because their own professionalism is not in place.
-An institution where I was told by the HR that students laugh at creative teachers. All without any evidence.
-An organization where the rule of the numbers reigns. Every single staff or student is spineless enough to want to stand by the majority over the truth, including the head.
-Where dirty politics reigns.
-Where students are charged lakhs in return for 1 fulltime faculty or a shut department while offering them no exploration or nothing new, despite all the systemization - which amounts to nothing.
-Where being able to see the bigger picture is totally missing.
-Where gaslighting is a way of life.
-Where the director walks into a female faculty's room without notice with a male staff member as if she owns your private space and dignity.
Yet, these are places I protected like my own blood for a period of time just to do MY duty as a good employee and kept all of this hidden from the public, while displaying only the good to try to promote institutes that were so weak that they still did not get promoted!
The rest is for anyone to judge.
