Captivating phone! . Review on Apple iPhone

This will be the only first hand review on the iphone on mouthshut! Isn't that exciting.

The rationale for buying this phone was simple for me. I needed a usable mp3 player and a new phone. A 8gb mp3 player will costs rs 9000 and a good phone rs 10000, and that's how much the iphone cost.

Exclusivity is luxary

If your in a neighbourhood where everybody drives a corolla or an optra you wont be satisfied with driving an elantra. You want to go one up, and buy an accord. Luxary is sometimes just an illusion and is relative to what everyone else has.

The iphone is exlcusive and very unique, which is why it can be considered a luxary. I have gone around with this phone and got amusing comments from my friends like "i'm scared i'll never hold such an expensive phone again, " and "is it really the iphone or is it a chinese copy!?"

Touch screen

The touch screen on the phone includes scrol capability and an easy way to zoom in and out of web pages and pictures. You simply need to pinch the screen to make the image come closer. The screen is easy to the eye and good for reading.

*Size

The iphone has a 3.5 inch screen is therefore quite wide. However it is also very thin. In reality this makes for a very good fit in your pocket. I usually can't feel the phone in my pocket. In comparison the n95 is quite thick.

Internet surfing

The iphone can connect to the internet using a wifi, wireless internet access point. If you don't have wifi at home/office then it dosen't make much sense to buy this phone as a lot of the functionality will be unusable. It can also use a data plan from the phone companies.

I can watch youtube video's while lying in bed which I can't do on my laptop. You might think thats a big advantage if your a coach potato!:P

*Usefull features

*Some of the smaller usefull features of the phone is that you can view the weather conditions, look at maps, run the ipod, with just a few clicks. The calculator is very usefull with huge touch buttons like a real life calculator. You may also take notes simply.

The operating system is very smooth. It uses apples operating system which obviously no other phone uses. Apple are known for thier operating systems on thier MAC desktops and laptops. Apples operating system is actually on 10% of the worlds computers!

*SMS

*Smsing can be tricky on this phone. If you are stationary then it is very fast using two hands. If you are in a train or walking its quite difficult to text. It might be that I am inexperienced. You have to keep your eyes on the phone and can't look straight ahead while you walk.

This is where the advantage of having a physical keypad lies, but its a small price to pay. You cannot forward SMSes to other people, I don't know if thier is a third party application to enable this.

The SMSes are grouped by which contact sent them rather then in sent/inbox. This is much more usefull and you can instatly pick up a conversation where you left it! It also reduces clutter, brilliant idea!

*Conclusion

*The iphone is  a wonderfull device coming from a company not in the cellphone business. It is very innovative. It does not use any new technology. Touch screen has been around for very long but it puts all the technology together nicely. Like a high storage capacity in such a slim design. There is no phone apart from this that has that, and its becuase it uses an ipod hard disk.
