God, How brilliant was apple presentation of launching new iphone last sept, Made me crazy to get the new iPhone 6s keeping my fingers crossed I was waiting for its launch but when it did the price in India was way more than across the globe and I got disappointed and had second thoughts. And as I had my trusty iPhone 5s 16 gb with me I felt may b the price will drop in a month or so n finally it did and I got myself a space grey one 64 gb as(16gb is decent but I suppose not for me anymore).
Unboxing experince was same as it was with the 5S but only the box got bigger with 2.5D image of device engraved on the box top this time.
Everything was same inside the box compared to iPhone 5s box only new thing I found in 6S box was of-course the new 6S but the 10W usb Power Adapter same which comes with iPads.
Now lets move to the interesting part of this review, lets talks specs yes iPhone 6s specs
CPU:1.85 GHz Dual Core 16 nm/14 nm(TSMC/Samsung) L1cache 128KB, L2 Cache 3MB, Custom ARM v8-A
RAM: 2GB LPDDR4
Camera: 12MP rear shooter, with 4K video recording(that's why I bought 64GB) f/2.2 dual led true tone flash 5MP front shooter, Facetime HD camera with flash(yes, will explain it latter if u don't know how it works.)
Sensors: Accelerometer, Magnetometer, Gyroscope, Proximity sensor, Ambient light sensor, A-gps, Glonass, digital compass, 1 speaker, 3 Mic.
SAR Values: SAR-HEAD(US) 1.14 W/KG(EU) 0.87 W/KG, SAR-BODY(US) 1.14 w/kg(EU) 0.98 W/KG.
display:3D touch 4.7Inch IPS 1334 X 750 326PPI 16:9 aspect ratio 1400:1 contrast ratio.
GPU: Power VR GT7600 6 cores OpenGL version 3.3
now the above figures are for the nerds who wanted it gives a thumbs up if u liked it, anyways moving forward if u compare the above figures to an flagship android device it will disappoint you since on paper it seems mid range(iPhone 6s) but to know the true nature of it u had to use it. since ios devices need less hardware to perform thanks to IOS but iPhone 6s is the fastest phone I have ever used. Ok you dont feel that way? let me explain why. IOS animation time is fixed for all devices thus the time taken to populate the icons past lock screen is kept same, animation to open apps is kept same but on older devices like 4s/5c due to weaker specs for IOS9 they feel more sluggish but not bad. but diff between iPhone 5s-6-6s is not visible thanks to same interval IOS 9 animations then you will ask where is it fast then?
Its fast when you load up a game the diff is very clear there. the diff between 6s and 6 is huge as compared to diff between 6 and 5s. ok not only on game but for many things due to its 2GB ram apps stays for longer in memory and switching between them is breeze.
Video compilation photo editing every thing is snappy and alot time saving compared to Iphone 6. for geeks, downloaded antutu and run a benchmark this device scores over 1lac 30thousands and 2nd position device scores 90000 so u cn see wat I meant by snappy.
Now talking bout something I wanted to discuss separately is the touch id sensor. iPhone 6s uses second gen touch ID compared to 1st gen on 6/5s and its dat fast that if u press the home button with ur registered thumb its nearly skips the lock screen and jumps to home screen by unlocking the device thus if you want to check notifications use lock unlock button instead.
battery lifeok this is still a challenge for it, yes it has improved over 5s but not very much over the 6 infact if you play same games on both devices sometimes 6 drains faster but most of the time 6s drains faster but compensate in stand by time a lot over 6. if you a person stuck with your phone even while pooping you will need to charge it twice a day but with normal usage it lasts 24-26 hrs easily with screen on nearing 3-5 hrs.
ok time to sum up now but last but not the least the 3D touch it started as gimmicky for me but now since various apps has support for it its useful. its saves time? No it doesn't not now but things can change in future as more apps will support it soon. Its just doing things with style.
whats the new aluminium 7000 series? well its def something to go forward for ur device doesn't bend in day to day usage and as I noticed it even fell on concrete but still no dents only a brushed scratch on it but same cannot be said for screen n even glass covering rear camera they are easy to scratch.
verdict: Def an upgrade over iPhone 6 but I personally find 5s design more appealing than 6/6s but its totally upto ur taste.
