Apple has commendably equipped its year 2011 release of iPad2 with some extravagent features when they unveiled iPad3 in the market this year and I am not being biased, but I think it wouldn't be wrong to say that it is not only the best tablet in the market, but it is the only tablet in the market because according to what I've seen, no other tablet in the market is as perfect as iPad3. I have been using the it for around 3 months now and it will not be wrong to say that it has become an indispensable part of my life. From playing games to watching movies, listening to music and surfing the internet, everything is just inch perfect.
Well, I shouldn't really be comparing iPad3 to other tablets available, but I can certainly share some of the specifications. I will start from the features that I loved about this product and slowly move on to what I like less.
1) BATTERY LIFE:
Talking about the battery life, there is a tremendous amount of truth in the promise that Apple has made where-in they claim that the battery life is 10 hours while browsing and when I actually decided to test this feature, the battery stood still for 9 hours and 26 minutes which is pretty much acceptable. This is almost a 30% increase from the previous version of the iPad.
I should not be writing this but I just compared this stat to other tabs and this is what I discovered
Motorola Xoom 8:20
Dell Streak 7 3:26
Archos 101 7:20
Samsung Galaxy Tab 6:09
(I have obtained the above figures from research using multiple sources on the internet)
2) HARDWARE:
This device is a sublime piece of engineering. The iPad2 comes equipped with a 1GHz processor and A5X dual-core.Also it has Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n; 802.11n on 2.4GHz and 5GHz) and Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP technology. With all of these, it weights only 652g and is so slim, that I've been seriously wondering as to where all of the above mentioned stuff is??? .
3) SOFTWARE:
The iPad3 comes with new OS 5.1 which has just some small enhancement over the last OS 4.3 which was available on iPad2. There have been minor changes made to the OS which will go un-noticed as their enhancements to the OS is suppose to improve performance of the device and not introduce anything drastically new.
4) DISPLAY:
iPad3 has a 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit IPS TFT, capacitive touchscreen and 16M colors. Key features to highlight here are
a) 1536 by 2048 pixels resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi)
b) Fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating and scratch-resistant glass
c) Support for display of multiple languages and characters simultaneously
5) APPS:
The built-in apps are pretty much similar to what I have seen in the previous version of the iPad except that I noticed that there have been some additional editing options which have been introduced in the Photo Booth app.
6) CAMERA:
This is the only annoying aspect of the previous versions of the iPad's was the camera which has improved drastically in this release. iPad3 has a 5 MP camera which is a noticable improve from the iPad2 which had a 0.7 MP camera with an HD lens.
iPad3 is undisputed the best tab as of now and it would take some serious efforts to come up with a device that could stand in competition along, though pricing is a concern considering the iPad3 but if you get all you need in one sleek, sober and lovely device, then shelling out some extra money should not be a concern.
