I’m not here to justify any viewpoint or justify any individual decision. I just want to put forward some practical questions, some real life situation. I won’t give any judgment but I would like to seek suggestions / comments on these issues. I know we won’t be able to solve anything but at least we can have some idea as what are the different opinions on this.

If you have seen the movie Apharan then you can very well relate but even if you have not seen this movie, the issues are very much relevant to you. Economically India is growing. We Indians have more wealth than what we had earlier. Our life style has improved drastically now. We have better facilities available and system has also become more transparent.  But the question is Are we more happy now?Are we not living in a society which is more prone to violence?

When we see a criminal, a hatred feeling comes in our mind. We never think that he is also a human being, he also has emotions, and he also wants to live a happy life.  Well, we have valid reasons for not thinking like this. Their deeds are unforgivable. They spread violence and corruption in society and hence there shouldn’t be any mercy with them. If we forgive them, more people will be encouraged to do similar deeds. We want to set a standard by punishing them and more important by hating them. But are we able to end Criminals by this mean? Are we able to provide a peaceful life for all?

You will be agreeing with me that none of the criminals are born with crime records. There’s something which make them criminals. Sometimes some people may jump into crime because of wrong intensions but there are also some situations where people are forced to do something which can’t be called legal. One incident drags them towards this jungle of crime. Now the question is if punish criminals why can’t we punish those people who created such scenario? Can we have a system where people have better options than doing something illegal?

Apharan had one more very strong character and that was the father of Ajay Shastri. He was a true person and used to follow 100% ethics. He was honest and he compromised with his standards. Most of the people loved his persona. Even I like a person of so much dignity. But do you think he was not good when it comes to managing his own family? I mean the kind of relationship he had with his own son, can’t be called a good one. In most the cases we see that an honest and great person is not able to manage his own family very well. Do you think we lack a balance between our society and our family? Do you see any basic problem in our social system?

The story digs out the situation of Bihar, which was prevailing in around 1995-2005. For around 10 years kidnapping was one of the major law n order issue in Bihar. This story captures some real feel as how entire operation takes place. Places mentioned n the kind of targeted persons was all most same. It says how corrupt the system was and how deep the disease was? Thankfully the situation is better in Bihar now but wherever I have seen crime, the entire system is involved in that. The question is if the entire system is corrupt, will the punishment given to some goons cure this? If you think we need to clean entire system, what should be the process? How to initiate this revolutionary movement?

If you don’t have any idea about how criminal operates I would recommend you to watch this movie. You would find that they are very systematic. Processes are well defined. Share of police, politicians are agreed. They don’t operate in a hurry but they operate with a full proof plan. The act is not terrifying for them as they know nobody is going to stop them. Outsider may think that they are also scared but it is not the case.I would love to see your comments on this well managed system (crime).

I have raised so many questions through this review and I would love to see your reactions on each one of them.
