When I first went On-line I was with AT&T, they were my long distance, and they had internet service too. So I had Explorer as my browser. I was with AT&T for about a year. Whenever I called them for customer service, I told them my problem and then they told me how to fix it, and that was that.

When I left AT&T because my computer crashed, they said no problem and they canceled my account. I told them I didn't know when I would be On-line again.

It was about a year later, when we finally replaced my old used computer. I decided to go with AOL, since AT&T was no longer our long distance provider.

Being use to the Explorer browser, I had a hard time getting use to the AOL browser, but calling friends helped me though.

When I did have to call AOL for help with one thing or another, they would drive me nuts. They would help me fix my problem and then try to sell me upgrades. I would usually be on the phone 30 minutes longer then I had to. NO, didn't seem good enough for them.

My family and I did a short term move to Utah that only lasted 3 months. I found out the area I was moving to only had one internet server that was local. AOL access numbers were considered long distance.

I called AOL to cancel and told them why. They went on and on about stuff I really didn't understand, and they weren't very good explaining it. They said I could still use my AOL browser, but be with the other server. Something about piggy backing, (Which I still don't understand what that means) and would only have to pay AOL like 10.00$ a month. I explained that I would be paying 21.00$ a month with this other server, and why would I want to pay an extra 10.00$ a month if I didn't have too. I told them no.

A month later money was missing out of my account to AOL. I was suppose to be canceled!! I called them up, they said they had no record of my canceled call from a month ago!! Again I told them to cancel the account and I wanted my money back for the last month.

The guy kept me on the phone for an hour, telling me the same stuff as the last person!! I told him I already went through this and no was no. He says I understand that, but I have to go through all this because AOL requires me to do so. I told him, I went though it last month!!

Of course I was afraid to hang up the phone, I was afraid they wouldn't cancel my account and I would go through this again the following month. Needless to say, the account was finally canceled, plus my money back in my account.

When we moved back to Las Vegas, I went through my Long Distance provider, Sprint. I can call them anytime, and they don't try do sell me more, thank God.

That was my experience with them. I have friends who love AOL. Even my mother!! Just God help them if they ever cancel their account. My friend Tamey is with AOL and was thinking of going to Sprint. Now she's afraid that her experience will be like mine. I had all ways called her after talking to AOL.
